I noticed that the stick is very stiff on the GP2X. Also the dead zone is big, too big. You have to press the stick all of the way to get anything to register in any direction. This large throw distance causes the control to be imprecise because it takes a longer time to change directions. This can be a real problem for many games. It kind of reminds me of the zodiac stick which was similar in the lack of precision.
There needs to be a mod and I think GPH should redesign the stick a bit to reduce the dead zone. The GP32 stick is MUCH better.
Have any of you guys with dev boards noticed if it would be easy to shim the switches to reduce the dead zone? I would look into it but I don't want to take it to pieces and void the warrantee. Maybe a mod can be done to improve it.
I have noticed that the screen, while noisy with lines like: ///// running through (firmware fix?) , is pretty much brighter than the GP32.
