All this talk of porting this or porting that and developing things for the pandora. In theory, since this thing runs on linux, wouldn't anything made for linux work or at least come close to working with only hardware limitations getting in way?? Seems that some of the porting might be easier than some think. I read someone talking about porting vlc to run on it. Couldn't one just download the linux version of vlc?? See my point? I was just asking...curious what people think.

This basically means that it might be possible to run quite a lot of software on Pandora, as long as there is someone willing to do the port. That is, build te binaries that you and the others can install, which in many cases will require changes in the source code.

You need to recompile stuff so it will run on ARM instead of the x86 processor that most compiled programs are made for. So long as you have the source code and can make a few minor changes in some situations lots of stuff will work. Dependencies are also a concern.

A lot of programs could also benefit from minor tweaks to make them more accessible on a handheld device.
