It Is Now Time...

Like I said: I don't feel treated respecfully. I feel ignored.

On Sunday you can say "He isn't working, it's Sunday!" but when Tuesday has arrived there should be some additional information.

And this is no official forum? Which is if not this? At least the official page is officially linking to this...

The official page is the news source you need all the rest is just bonus. (look at other compagnies and what information they give)

Its ok to critize though the OP team is the first to aknowledge they dont like the way it is going, but its to late to change it. They could cancel their order and start over again but that would cost more money and more delays.

Generally speaking, adults do know a hell of a lot more than kids, they have the advantage of many years worth of experience and knowledge. Also generally speaking, kids always believe that they know more than adults, it's called the arrogance of youth, which changes once you grow older and gain experience and hindsight.

Regardless of age, if you want to be considered someone's equal then you have to be respectful.

Yet another generalization.. Okay, so here's something for you to ponder upon. When you were a kid, did you want to be like your parents? Most adults think they know everything, but they don't. If adults were smart they wouldn't vote for idiots (if anyone), they wouldn't allow media to brainwash their kids (and themselves), they wouldn't be so ignorant of all the worlds problems. And they are exactly that, ignorant. Because if they were not, they'd be doing something to better the world, like helping those in need. But no. And ignorance comes side by side with bliss? No, stupidity.

Haha I recently talked to an old friend and reminisced the times when we had the answer to everything and everything was simple and older people were ignorant fools :D And now we realize how wrong we were. But its part of groing up. Through experience you learn that changes come in small steps not in huge revolutionary steps.

It's taboo to criticize though. You will only get the answer "You can always cancel your order". So there is no way you ever win against that argument.

I think the problem mostly is that we've all read the same criticisms, in one form or another, so many times that it's depressing, and distinctly irritating, to read the same thing again. And again. And again... it's like scratching at a wound - painful when you do it, worse when someone is doing it for you. If we all let rip in the direction of our suppliers (giving OpenPandora the freedom to shout at China for all they are worth) the collective vibration caused by all our voices pointed towards Craig would likely scour everything North of the Watford Gap free of mud. Mid and North England, and Scotland, would be laid waste as if it'd been struck by atomic bombs. And a Chinaman would have earache for an hour.

It seems to me that being annoyed at OpenPandora isn't just justified - you'd have to be half barmy not to be annoyed with them (unless you've just ordered in which case, no worries, you should expect delivery in about Two Months). But what does venting on the forum DO? On the one hand it might just raise the temperature of the forums, increasing the ire of the local inhabitants. Like sitting in a traffic jam on the M25 and deciding to play "Road to Hell" by Chris Rea at full blast with your windows down to protest at the delay. If you read "Good Omens" (you should) then you'll appreciate that such an action would probably just increase the chances of us ALL going to hell, as we all get increasingly irked.

Alternatively, maybe a critical post will attract Craig's attention. In which case one is likely to get the offer of ones money back and a first class ticket to being abused by someone who evidently enjoys it. That's not really that valuable a result either, come to think of it.

The point is, raising the level of irritation here winds everybody up, but what does it really achieve? OpenPandora don't have control over what's happening, so even if you could make Craig FEEL guilty (good luck there!) he couldn't do a darned thing about it. It's not like they will suddenly move manufacturing out of cheap-as-chips-China - it's clear that the too-good-to-be-true pricing is why the cases are being made there. Well, why they've been ordered from there anyway. The people who have control - the people who can actually DO some work or not do some work towards getting the cases done don't read these forums. They're too busy making cases for companies that have someone watching over the workforce to make sure their product comes out on time, to a high enough standard.

When you are young, your field of vision is narrow and answers to problems are simple. When you grow up, your field of vision becomes broader and you realize that the answeres in fact aren't that simple. It's simple :D

@Monk
I'm repeatedly impressed by your skills explaining stuff :)

Man... Did you even read what I wrote? You should Join a socialist alliance, then you may realize that there are answers to all the problems. I hope you see your ignorance.

I have to admit, this exchange is the most amusing thing I've seen all day. It's brought a smile to my face each time he behaves JUST like the stereotype he seems to feel he's better than. It's SUCH a textbook example that I can't help but grin, despite the fact that there's no-one here to see my mirth.

IMHO one of the first things you learn that marks your maturity towards adulthood is that you don't know everything. As for voting idiots into political power, there isn't much choice there - only adults are allowed to run, after all! I don't know where he comes from, but round here adults do try to help those that need it. I'll be off myself soon, to put in my regular half day of volunteer (unpaid) work for the needy. I wonder what shunun does to help those in need? Would you enlighten us, shunun?

Uhuh lets solve all of the worlds problems shall we. Its very easy. It just requires everbody in whole world to change. (btw I am dutch and I think we probably have one of the most left-wing political systems did it solve all the problems, no!, however we are allowed to get high and forget some of our problems ;) )

That's funny, between 16 and 20 I considered myself being a communist. Things have changed a bit.

Now see wut the kids did thar. The thread is now full of crap. Start polite next time and it will be less prone to failure.
Point taken :p

So what are you getting at? I'm saying adult's are ignorant and so far I haven't heard anything to say otherwise.

You'll join the realm of the ignorant soon enough ;)

See, now I'm all abashed and want to go back and edit everything to remove any potential barbs, just so I can avoid losing any shine off my fresh coat of respectability! Nah, not gonna happen :) but thanks indeed :D always nice to be appreciated.

See, now, the reason that it's funny is... that's EXACTLY what you'd expect someone who doesn't have much experience to say.

No, seriously, calm down a bit and chat. Give the benefit of the doubt for a while to your peers. Stop calling them ignorant, be nice instead of nasty.

Sigh - this could be so much better with nuance, but most of all with live feedback. Seeing a nod as something dawns, or a shake of the head as it fails to penetrate, would help guide the next sentence. but you really ARE acting out a very well known stereotype here, and while I find it charming I doubt it can go on being so - typically we'd be heading towards some anger soon if the direction isn't changed. Frustration, and anger, is nowhere near as rewarding as civilised conversation, IMO.

Therefor you are ignorant (in x amount of years) if you plan on becomming an adult. Since you state it as an enevitable fact. But let me guess you will be the only exception to this.

I must admit that I'm a bit ashamed of how the thread went downwards.
To my excuse I have to say, that I'm just doing my job. I don't want this community to go back to throwing stones like it happened often enough in the past.
I'm bored of that shit, so be polite or put on the flame suit.
Thanks :)

If shunun can ignore the amused tone of my posts and sit down calmly and think about it, there's still time for this to turn into one of the more interesting threads of the day. Though it might need moving out of Pandora and into the general chat area. The Ages Of Man - how we change and manage to fit in the same broad stereotypes as we grow older - seems to be an interesting area to contemplate, to me. It almost seems to argue for predestination, as so few (if any?) seem to escape its clutches, and we see the same kind of patterns develop time after time. Any thread can turn, like a worm, and go downhill or up. It's up to the posters what direction it takes - I'd recommend a more enlightened, intelligent but above all friendly approach myself.

shunun - how 'bout it? Call a truce and start from scratch. Pick a topic - stereotypes, youth vs experience, or OpenPandora's manufacturing expertise?

I think this confirms that you guy's are ignorant. You simply labeled me a stereotype, which is funny. Because you don't even know half the things I know. You aren't educated in everything I am. You have no right to label me. I am making a difference, I volunteer for the Red cross keeping homeless people fed, I talk to them, I know alot about people, alot about society. If you go on living your lives on cruise control, before you know it you'll be old and wishing you'd done something better with all your time. The way I see it, you're better off dying young and having tried.

Shunun, I've not read the whole thread fully, but it looks like you're acting like you know every thing.

Can we all just kiss and make up, or take this elsewhere? This is the most derailed topic I've seen on GP32X, and that really says something.

edit: Oh, looks like it might of ended. Good stuff.
