Yeah man, it's a great idea. Now we just need to invent a zero point energy harvester to overcome the there's-not-infinite-f*cking-power issuekingoddball said:Looks like a good idea, and would be good to have 2 or 3 plugs hanging around.
Maybe not for Pandora, but for something like PS3 with its limited USB ports.
Don't be ludicrous. We've already established that you're not going to have more than 255 USB devices, and besides, this would be stupid and unwieldy with more than, say, half a dozen plugs, So "infinite" is obviously not intended to be interpreted literally. Only a fool would think that these are intended to literally connect an infinite number of devices.zhasha said:Yeah man, it's a great idea. Uncanny. Here I was just saying to my friend how I couldn't find 221 USB ports to plug in printers, scanners and the like to my laptop. Of course I know about unpowered USB hubs, but the majority of devices anyone I know plugs into USB ports require around one unit load of the 5 available. That means you're probably going to get away with plugging in 3 or 4 devices into one port at best. That leads to you having a stack of plugs sticking out from your PC the width of a USB hub. Why not just get a hub then?VRAndy said:Don't be ludicrous. Now that that's out of the way? Perhaps you're familiar with the concept of "unpowered USB hubs"? Many USB devices are either self-powered (Printer), or draw so little power (thumb-drive) that unpowered hubs are a perfectly viable solution.
While this device has problems, you've somehow managed to grasp the one aspect of the design that's not really a problem.
