I want to cancel my order!

You dont know the reasons people canceled their orders.

I for one needed a new washing machine since mine was unfixable, and as it was a choice between a new machine ,so the kids had clean clothes for school, or a pandora i know i made the right choice in canceling.

In my eyes that makes me a good father, not a moron or idiot.

Ive canceled, but that doesnt mean i wont get one in the future , as funds are low this time of year for me i needed money and priorities come before luxuries.

So if that makes me an idiot in your eyes, so be it.

Also you are becoming a bit of troll when it comes to cancellation topics on these forums

No disrespect meant, Phelsumania, but I am sadly inclined to agree with the above statement after reading that post.

Nobody's denying that the Pandora is a good bit of hardware, and even if they were, that's no reason to throw slurs about. ;)

I was a pre premuim order order, if that makes sense. In the year waiting, my priorities have changed. I bought my first house and as we all know too well, bills have all gone up sharply recently. I have a wedding to save for next year. I know this things are my life choices, but things happen that are out of peoples control. My soon to be wife is being made redundant shortly, I have taken a pay cut that equates to a pandora every month. To be calling people "frikin morons" and "stupid" is plain insulting.

I pre ordered a gp2x wiz and waited it out to get one, but even that has had to be sold to help pay the essentials.

I'm not after sympathy or anything, and I do intend to go to the back of the queue and get a pandora when I sort my shit out. I just want people to know that people cancelling orders aren't all doing it just to screw over the OP team.

to be fair, the people that come on the forums announcing their cancellation are no better with their flame-bait. but this doesnt apply to people that have had trouble contacting OPT for their cancellation, which of course i have no idea what theyre talking about, as any of my emails have been replied within 2 days, customer support has been superb for me from jackie, and ED shares information like its bread for homeless people. and for those complaining why OPT arent sending out emails about production information, well why would they? if theres info you would like, your first step is to try and look for it yourself, and not expect people to send you spam mail about it, and any info you could possibly ask for regarding openpandora is easy to find, or at most, easy to ask for where to find it.

So you think a 2+ year delay isn't worth having a direct form of communication with a customer about? You might look at it as spam mail but honestly it does show that you haven't been forgotten and keeps the customer in the loop.

When they guaranteed I would have my Pandora before christmas you dont think its worth telling me I won't get it before Christmas? I don't know what companies you have dealt with in the past but in my book thats terrible customer service. Not delivering on a guarantee is bad enough, however not bothering to communicate with customers directly informing them of the delay is just unexcusable. Sure not every customer will read the email in detail but alot will and will appreciate being kept in the loop.

Also I have never been sent an update email from a company that has made me hate that company. I can think of quite a few that the lack of communication has pissed me off. Worst case scenario of sending the customer an update is the customer deletes the email.

theres your problems right there.

1. you think OpenPandora was a company for the last 3 years.

2. you havent tried talking to them. even a jackass like me gets a direct response from OPT, especially ED, no matter what my question may be, even if im asking how to download a streaming porn video

I have somewhat different experience. The only person who would talk to me is ED and the only way to get a response is a PM or posting to the forums. A politely asked question in 'Ask Craig' on estimated terms of delivery have not been answered for a couple of week and have been hidden after that.

I've ordered spare LCD cables September 28 and I don't know where they are now.

I've ordered the cables again last week with faster delivery method, and they still haven't been shipped.

The delivery address is in Germany, I want the goddamn cables so badly that I deal with the reshipper, so no it's not Russian mail and no it's not the reshipper.

Meanwhile I've recieved spare parts for 17" Sony laptop (which is no longer made) from goddamn China in something like two weeks. They've been delivered to Moscow, with Russian mail known for being damn slow.

I efficiently have no device now for more than a month and it's not like buying a Pandora which is to be produced and shipped, it's the spare parts which are supposed to be in stock. I don't know what should I think about this whole story. I can deal with some problems on my own and I prefer to do so whenever possible, but not in this case.

true that post was abit hasty and i really could have been alot less agressive with the post (might have been a tad drunk at the time :D )

just saying it could be considered wishfull thinking that cancelling your pre order is the way to get your cash back i paid my preorder half expecting not to get anything, at the time it was just one mahusive gamble.

The same gamble these guys have chosen to take (however i do appreciate the premium orders would have been miss leading) i really wanted this project to work but in all honesty in the early days upon ordering i genuinelly thought to myself well thats £350 down the drain why on earth did i do that.

But thats half the thing here if your preordering from a company which is really young which doesnt have the completed units to hand to ship, and is really quite under staffed for the end set goal to be reached with ease.

The majority of that pre-order is going to have been used in production of the pandas and ensuring the survival of the company, and if this is the case there aint going to be any cash floating about to give back as refunds (just what i thought to myself when ordering and something that was strongly taken into concideration). I genuinelly didnt think that getting a refund would even be a viable option, i was under the impression youve decided to take a gamble with some cash, now its time to pray that you have gambled on the right project.

And inevitably there are going to be stumbling blocks along the way which will slow down production ( granted no one expected as big of a hold up that cc decided contributed)

Also this is not ment to offend you too much wilhood but as expensive as living is at the moment esspecially with children. Would it not have been an idea in hine-sight to be wacking £5 or £10 a month into a savings account for these little life emergencys. If this was the first set back you had had this year you probably could have bought a new one.

Happy reading and look forwards to the grumbles

I've been waiting for an acknowledgement reply of a very important email(address change) for about 4 months. Maybe I'm naive but honestly I think it is not so hard, you know, to reply to emails, and if its gotten to be such a long queue it is something that has to be dealt with. My messages used to be replied promptly, but that stopped happening and I have no idea why.

I also was willing to loose this money when I paid for it, but that is in the understanding that the project fails for some reason beyond this guys' control. You are trusting them to at least have the intention to send you a proper pandora, once the time comes, otherwise you wouldn't be supporting the project(or I wouldn't, anyway)

I believe i read somewhere that there used to be a lass that was employed to deal with customer emails. this was at a time when everything was moving along swimmingly, then there was the trubles with cc which completely halted production for over a year. Now ED has managed to move the production across to germany i would imagine once the production of units gets underway again or as we get closer to this point (hopefully early next year if everything stays on track) that someone will be brought back in to help deal with the emails again. Unfortuinately it was not viable to keep the support team onboard last time round because there was a wages going out but no income coming in. But i wouldnt be suprised if email replys speed up again as we get into the new year

They are a business, they took peoples money to deliver a product. I would expect an ebay seller that isn't a business to communicate with me the fact what I paid for is going to be delivered late for some reason. Not expect me to go to the website they have and look up why my product hasn't been delivered

I have actually, both emails i sent were not responded to, should I have sent a 3rd, 4th or 5th email???? I didn't buy my Pandora from ED why would I direct questions towards him?

Here is the thing all they need to do is send an update to their paying customers who have patiently waited for years whenever a deadline was missed and keeping people in the loop. It just boggles the mind on why they don't do this. They would actually save time doing this.

I want OpenPandora to succeed but if they actually think for a second their behavior would be acceptable to the general public they are deluding themselves. I bought the Pandora after reading an article about it since it sounded like a cool device, I wasn't part of the community. I knew that it was a pre order and asked when I would get it. I was guaranteed before Christmas, now I would have gone mental by now if I didn't bother looking through the forums and read up a bit about the device and process. Do you honestly think most people would do that?

I have to somewhat agree with this member[kasp].

I love the Pandora, this forum and the entire open source concept . However as a business [and lets face it it is a business] there is much to improve. IMHO, I think initially OP bit off more than they could chew. As a result, certain aspects suffered due to the overwhelming circumstances. Their behavior is not purposefully negligible but rather a result of being unlucky , having bad timing and general inexperience in the business world.

I believe now that appropriate actions are being taken.

Right then my rant.

Cheers.

I guess I will refresh this topic with my somewhat better experiences.

Afterall we wouldnt want fresh customers to believe OpenPandora was unrelyable.

Ive ordered the Pandora quite some time ago with ED, which worked quite nicely as he was so kind to guide me through the order.

Eventually I got a Nub / Touchscreen problem and had to RMA, again with ED and that one worked okay too once I got a hold of him.

You guys must understand that Pandora is, even if a few years old now, still the young kid on the market, they lack business experience (compared to other companies) and will need some time to rival bigger ones.

Besides.... did you ever try to contact Sony?

Good luck with that...

People wouldnt badmouth Pandora if they knew how the big guys handle it...

It can be far worse, Samsung for example... just google the stories...

Well I suppose this is a topic that has been conversed to no end!!

Perception is subjective and can hurt or help one's business I suppose.

Cheers.

Perception is subjective, but calendar and email are not.

They say first order didn't arrive yet after almost six weeks and the second one I've made a week ago is not even shipped, and I've got zero replies to my emails.

Perception is everything and as a business you have to go the extra mile to present things in a stable manner. I posted a month ago about selling 3 Pandoras to co-workers, I also told them to research the Pandora before buying. 2 of them lost confidence enough not to purchase because of what they perceived as a lack of interest from someone in the OP team. I myself never thought of it this way but Mark said he lost interest because it looked to him like Craig bailed on the Pandora before it was on its feet to work on the iControlPad. In hindsight I'd agree with his perception of the situation.

Just to reiterate...I'm not bashing Craig but I lost OP 2 units and both were due to my co-worker's PERCEPTIONS that Craig doesn't really care.

So yeah...what your prospective customers think is way more important that how YOU think you should run your business.

The reason the big companies communicate poorly is because they have enough money to not give a crap if they lose your business...OP does not have the funds to lose business so what they put out there image-wise is extremely important.

Just a thought.

Well, I'm doing anything I can here :)
That ^ statement and the fact of how amazing the Pandora is is enough positive perception for me and should be for many others too.

Let them read that!! He speaks from his heart truly!!

I don't know him but I perceive he is a kind man who is giving 150% of his being to see this through.

Ok off the soapbox then. :D

Cheers.

I think you're doing a great job ED. In fact the third co-worker is still ordering a Pandora specifically because of your dedication.

I actually work for the PR department at the University of Michigan so my co-workers opinions kind of shocked me out of my stupor. I've been wow'd by the Pandora to the point Ive ignored many things I learned in school. My co-workers are right though. Craig has handled a lot of the PR work horribly. It's nice he wants to run things how he wants to but that isn't how business works. You don't matter, your buyers do. All this crap communication is actually damaging this project. As shown by the 2 customers you guys lost.
