Com64 started the thread because of something very specific that was funny. RB posted images that were in no way related to the original topic, that of gmaps doing funny things. If RB had started a new thread, there may be some argument to keeping them. That's not to say discussions need to stay on topic, but derailing usually follows its own path. RB's didn't just derail the thread, it yanked it into another dimension.
The content itself may have been meant in jest, but remember that some people also find goatse hilarious. A line needs to be drawn somewhere, and I for one hope it starts well before we get to gaping sphincters.
When posting any images, you really need to consider your audience. This is basically a public forum: people are as likely to be reading it at work or in the library as they are at home, and sudden butts and penises, regardless of how funny they are in context, may not be appreciated in those settings. Should you avoid posting any sort of image you find funny for fear that someone might get offended? Of course not! This is a large community and surely others share your sense of humour. Before you hit post, however, stop and think; if you consider that there is a very real possibility that someone might find the image offensive, a little warning and a spoiler tag never hurt anything.
