Damm, i have my Wiz only one month and now is bricked........Join the club I don't think it's possible to unbrick w/o a BoB, and I don't even know if the BoBs can work with the retail Wizes.
But even with the BoB I can't get the software procedure working with the current devices. I think it needs a new flashing module.

It's possible to build in safety checks to an update to cover power outages etc. (check battery level and require power cable connected.)
Are the firmware updates for the Sony PSP covered?
Could just be I am one of the "awkward squad" when it comes to customer rights. Once got a free 5 inch upgrade (32 to 37) on my LCD Samsung TV because the panel inside it wasn't exactly as advertised.
