I recently made a guide on how to rip your favourite DVD's to your GP2X step by step, I hope you appreciate it and feel free to point out errors. Pictures to accompany the steps are provided in a link.

What you'll need:
DIVX (3.11, 4.x, 5.x, 6.x) - http://www.divx.com/
DVD Decryptor - http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/ (You might need this)
DVDX - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_so...ippers/dvdx.cfm
How to do it:
1. Open DVDx (after you have installed it) with a DVD ROM in the drive.

2. Choose "File" > "Open DVD Root"

3. In the "Select Title" window, choose the longest file (time wise) there and click "Select".

4. You should be in the "Input Settings" window.

5. On the right hand side you should see a mini-box called "Save your DVD-Drive". In this click the "Location" drop down box and select "Hard disk", then choose a place to save the file on your Hard Drive.

6. In the "Size (MB)", enter 300 (for 300MB's).

7. On the bottom left of the window, you should see the "Misc" mini-box. In the "iDCT" drop-down box, select whatever iDCT is suitable for your processor (it will tell you beside the name).

8. Click "OK" in the window.

9. The screen should be black (If it is, skip stages 10,11,12, if not read on).

10. If the screen isn't black (green, garbled up, "too many samples") then you must download the DVD Decryptor program (as linked above). Install it. Open it up.

11. On the right hand side there should be a list of files. Click "Edit" (at the top), select "Main Movie Files". Then it should select certain movie files at the right hand side. If so, click the Decrypt button (the image at the bottom left with a DVD then an arrow pointing to a Hard Disk). It will take a while.

12. After it has finished, close down DVD Decryptor and go back to DVDx. Go to "File" - "Open IFO" and locate the IFO which you just saved to the Hard Disk (the file is normally called “VTS_01_0.IFO”). selecting it should open the "Input Settings" window, but all the settings should be saved from the last changes you made. So just click OK, DVDx should show a black screen.

13. Go to "Settings" > "Output Settings".

14. At the very top left of the window, click the drop down box and choose "AVI (DivX, YUV,...). Then click the "Audio Lame" button underneath and in the "Lame" window, in the "Bitrate" drop down box, choose 160KBits (Quality should be "Q3 High" and Channel should be "Stereo". In the drop-down box a few bits below it, make sure it says "DivX 6.2.2 Codec (1 Logical CPU).

15. Click the "Pass 1 settings" below and click the calculator icon in the bottom right corner. In the "Filesize" box type in 300(MB) or 400(MB) (more if the film is 2+ hours). Click accept to close the bitrate calculator, then click OK to close the DivX window, bringing you back to the DVDx Output Settings.

16. In the "Expert Settings" box, in the "Export (AVI + Premiere)" drop-down box, select "YUY2". In the Export Settings on the right hand side, type in 320x240 as a resolution. Click the "Whole" button beside the "Max frame" setting.

17. Click apply on the window, then go to "File" > "Select Output" in the main DVDx window. Choose a filename and destination and click ok.

18. Click the Record (Encode) Button (small red circle) at the bottom right hand corner of the main DVDx window.

19. If a warning comes up saying "Wrong settings block for AVI video codec", click yes. You should see a little bar telling you that the movie is buffering. After that, you should see the movie playing by skipping frames in the main DVDx window , it is now recording. After it is finished just drag the movie file to your GP2X and enjoy!
