Homebrew 3Ds Is The Answer

I think there's already a thread for this in the "Other Consoles" section. ;)

And Im sure homebrew on it won't come fast at all... I don't think I saw homebrew being able to use the DSi mode yet...

I'm not even vaguely interested in the Nintendo 3DS .. its nice for the consumer society which like to be spoon-fed things, but for those of us who like to create, its crap.

Though I absolutely enjoyed my NDS, I think I'm completely fed up with closed devices dictating me on how to use them and what software to run.

The same Nintendo games for over 25 years. Now they need some new trick to feed you the same crap all over again. And the 3DS is born.

As far as creating goes it's made of epic win. 3D camera with on device picture editing. Won't be photoshop quality, but I think there'll be some pretty wicked 3D photo sharing going on.

Yes, and with the iPhone you can create music videos. This is all fantastic for people who are not programmers. But for us, every device gets worse and worse as their manufacturers tighten down the OSes used on them.

Homebrew is a nice effort, but you're still paying for a security system and then breaking it. Part of every purchase finances whoever decided to lock that device. I'd rather just bitch about them on the Internet and then wait forever for a Pandora.

I realise that, the point is there's more than one kind of creating, and the 3DS is not just for people who want to be spoonfed.

This is a good thing in a way though. If they lock the system down so there's no new homebrew, then systems like the Pandora will get more support as they are the only option. I was thinking of getting a GP2X F-200 a few years back, but then waffled on it because a hacked PSP could do much of the same and was getting better support. Had the PSP been unhackable, the GP2X would have been an easy choice.
