After getting the GP2X, a friend took out the L button and lost it, and also broke both of the battery contacts. Now the GP2X is missing one L button and the batteries no longer fit. After trying to make the batteries fit inside the batteries fit by using aluminum foil, the batteries only last for twenty minutes. This is when using the Energizer Rechargeable 2500 and Duracell 2650. Both only last for twenty minutes. Is there any way to fix the battery contacts, and replace the L Button?

you don't necessarily have to use the same battery contacts, but you have to use good ones (not aluminum foil). you also could use a jumper wire instead of soldering the contacts straight to the board.

for instance, you get a battery clip from an electronics store and take the spring out, solder a wire to the board, secure the terminal in the gp2x casing somehow and solder it to the wire.

for the L button you should check with craigix or evildragon since they're a custom shape and all that.

Were there drugs involved in this? To loose a button AND break not one but both battery contacts sounds like the work of a drunk (or drugged) man. Sorry about your dilemma. As others stated, craig can probably get you the part or playasia. As for the battery contacts, try taking apart an el-chepo .50 at a flea market lcd game and use the contacts from it. Most battery contacts appear pretty much the same, although it might take some cutting to get it to fit onto the pcb exactly like the originals.
