Gp32linux And Opie :) [pda]

Okay!

EarthSight 1.0
SpiralLoops
SpiralSynth

That's all I could understand on the list :p

Hmm... I think its about time the GPLinux guys make a new topic saying all the basic info, status and stuff like that.

I would love to see :
hotels
MagesArena (a RPG which sounds really great)
flPhoto 1.2
and of course EarthSight 1.0 which looks really great :)

oh and if it's possible to get a X Window management then
flwm 1.00
could be really cool on GP32 B)
Screenshot here

thanks for your answers
i will have a look after my examns in september

but try to be realistic
for EarthSight they say
Prerequisites: 256 MByte memory, Pentium/Athlon ..... :(

any ideas, help with : seeking , spreading the word about the project , translations , coding ... welcome :)

did anyone try contacting gamepark about the linux port they had on the gpi?

I mean isn't linux open sorce so shouldn't they release some source code or something?

Does anyone know which division made the gpi?

didnt try, if someone can ....

by the way
need some help with the site
does someone want to extract all usefull infos from this thread [and others]
and put it on the gp32linux, in an understandable form
something like a tutorial

thanks

here is a screen of an application a friend make on ipaq
[ it s working on gp32 ] using fltk [ easy gui design ]
port.19100.png

I still have problems running all versions of gplinux, both from setup tutorial on gp32x.de, and the ones on gp32linux.com.

I have triple checked the directions, but it seems more a problem with loading the smc card. It never is able to mount my gp32, like /mnt/gpmm/.../... not found, unable to load fat something....

I have reformatted using pacrom, and using winxp fat (not fat32).

All of them fail loading the card.

Any suggestions? I have the time to try out other things.

Also, I do have 1 bad block on my card, but that shouldn't be a huge issue, as the card marks it and doesn't use it then.

I have done the same things as in this easy tutorial trying to setup gplinux.

It seems almost like a card format issue, or the fact my card has 1 bad block might be an issue?

Only, I formatted with pacrom, and have also tryed windows XP fat formatting (fat16, not 32).

Even the different launchers don't help.

And I have tried both notepad and gvim on the windows xp side to setup.

Any other suggestions? I would love to try this.

mth411> if it still doesnt work for you, buy a cheap [ it s really cheap] smc card reader usb2

i was wondering if some people are interested
if we are present at the next fosdem, next year in februrary [ brussels ]

http://www.fosdem.org/
http://www.fosdem.org/2004/index/dev_room_embedded
extremely good idea are you planning to be present? because if we manage to go their with a gp32 running linux we will be able to generate a shitload of interest

a cheap pda type device with excellent gaming controls who will be able to resist.

BTW:i will definetly go it only costs me like £40 pound to get there

yes i will be there and maybe cyberic too, dont have the answer of toholl yet
we could do some speach/presentation
if enough people are interested and if we get a room
[ but even if we dont get one i know the place .... ;) ]
there will be some wifi connection, so you can come with your laptop
more infos at the end of the year

+ install party
+ little coding tutorial

if you have ideas ....
we will also need maybe some video device to show the gp32 screen on a big screen

there would be a lot of people from around the world coming to present
their linux projects, and there will be some projects interesting for the gp32linux and other pda

sounds good to me be sure to let me know i aint that "techy" meaning my knowledge of linux is fairly basic but i am sure i will be able to help somehow ;)

BTW: Am trying desperately to contact gamepark but i cant find a email adress on the site, sooo if anyone could get me the adress because i got a korean speaker from one of the anime boards i visit, but i don't want to bother him too much i might nd up seeming incompetent

Thanks

BTW for the big screen thing cant we use a really good quality camera hooked up to a projector or pc/laptop we can rig it up so it aligns perfectly shoudn't be too hard if we know the screen refresh rate.

Have no fear have you tried the micro version it is much faster anyway our little korean deice is capable of alot more just give those genuis's who are working on it a ll time :D

And if you really want to see linux running on gp32 along with associated cool devices like hardware support, just publicise the damn thing and we all will be the owners of the best PDA/gaming device out there. :p :D

i like gplinux but it's SLOW

it s is not slow
some applications may seems slow because those applications uses too much ram
but fear not, in the beginning linux was running with just a 486 and 8MB ram ...
i hope to show you in september the new flash player [ that is not slow, well some animations may be ]
and a new gui like the ones on pda and a fast webbrowser once i ve got some time and succeed cross compiling some shity libs [ like libwww from w3c ]
