I'm debating whether to get a GP32 or a Zodiac and I just wanted some of your opinions on what you guys think. The only important systems to emulate for me are SNES and Neo Geo. Beyond that, everything else is just extra. Here's what I think the advantages and disadvantages of both systems are:

GP32

Advantages:
Well-developed community
Many emulators are already available
Cheaper

Disadvantages:
Only 8MB of RAM limits a lot of things
No sound chip or graphics chip limits a lot of things
I don't like the microswitch joystick
Only 4 buttons

Zodiac:

Advantages:
128MB of RAM allows for a lot more possibilities
200Mhz is faster than the GP32
LCD screen is a lot nicer
True analog joystick
6 buttons
Games are in true 3D

Disadvantages:
Expensive
Still in its infancy
The current emulators out there cost money, except for CaSTaway

Also, the 2nd question would be if a Neo Geo emulator is feasible on the Zodiac. I'm asking this on a technical standpoint whether it's possible or not.

The last issue to consider is whether the Zodiac is worth the extra price or not. I really don't want to spend too much money but if it means that the system is able to push out much more graphics and better emulators, I'm willing to pay extra. Currently I'd say that the Zodiac has the potential to be much better than the GP32 but only the community can decide whether that will be possible.

Don't expect a neo-geo emulator on the GP32, as it won't happen (the odds are greatly against it).

Lose the "Neo Geo emulation on Zodiac" from the title, this is an other ordinairy GP32 vs. Zodiac topic ;)

I think the Zodiac wil be a pretty fantastic handheld in a few months. Only problem is I don't have the money for it and I'm planning to buy a PSP at the end of 2004 (if it is released then). Therefor I'm going for a less expensive solution for playing emulators on the road: I'm going to order a GP32 tonight :)

I'm well aware of the technological limitations of the GP32 and the unfeasibility of a Neo Geo emulator on the GP32, however I was referring to the Zodiac.

what about the NeoGeo Pocket emulator that was released for the Another 15 Days Compatition thing???

the Neo Geo Pocket has - technically - not a single thing in common with the NeoGeo Arcade/Console machines.

I highly doubt you will see full neo-geo emulation on the zodiac. Snes and genesis maybe but neo-geo I would have tyo say thats quite a stretch. The xbox even slows down when there is a lot of action on screen.
