Gp32 Vs Gba

exactly. and anyway why the hell would u want an ngage or a qd they suck so badly. Ur better off with a gp32 of a gba at least then u'll be able to actually see the games u play.

Again I own both GBA with flashcart and a GP32 - I also never use the GBA for emulators. That is no slight on the authors as the emulators for the GBA are just as good (and in some cases better) than their GP32 equivalents.

Nes, Sega master system, ZX spectrum (48k only) and colecovision are emulated to a very high standard and if these emulators were ported to the GP32 they would probably be a little better than some of the emu's we are using - The problem is that the GBA screen is crap! Both colour saturation and resolution make it hard to see what is going on as most games need to be squashed or need sprite following routines to make them playable.

I'm also gonna point out that both GBA and GP32 are quite mature consoles now.

We have already seen the best of the GBA and MOST of the best games that it will ever have already been released. (Nintendos got its hands pretty full with trying to make the DS a success and I can't see it managing to release a huge amount of original GBA titles in the next few months...)

For the GP32 being old is actually an advantage as a lot of the emulators that you would want to use are in a very playable state - and whatever replaces the GP32 will not have emulators as good as ours for some time. (unless gamepark manage to pull off complete compatibility with their next console ;) )

I must say that the GP32Blu screen is fantastic compared to a GBA sp, but as it nearly doesn't have any commercial games it relies on emulators, and I found that a lot of them are a bit "twitchy"...
As time goes by they will definitly get better, so to answear the original question, the GP32 has the future before it,it can probably beat the GBA in emulation hands down given time.

Also before some smart ass says GBA can emulate I know that, but it's more expensive and not worth it if all you want is emulation.
Sorry to be a smart ass :p but it's not really more expensive. I bought a second hand GBA, an afterburner front light kit, and a 256mb flashcart for £100 in total, the same price that I paid for my second hand non-flu GP32 with 128mb smc.

yea but your 32Mb flashcart only holds 32MB of space, will the 128MB smc holds 128MB ;)
and you were quite lucky, i bought my gba firsthand for .. what was the price when it came out... 100€? + flashcart 128Mb for 125€ : 225€ at all.

my gp32 nonflu was 144€ + 2x 128MB smcs : 224 €

okay lol thats almost same prize  but i can hold much more on my 256MB of smcs than 16MB on fc.

*OT: wtf all my numbers dont work anymore when i press them except 5 and 6, so i used numpad but wtf again i cant type a dot with an I over it you know what character i mean*

If you mean your computer keyboard, Try a reboot. I sometimes find that my `u` key does not work, so i cut and paste a `u` from somewhere else until i can be arsed to reboot, Then all is well. :)

[EDIT] Stupid typo`s

Yeah, I use the GBA for commercial games as they are really good, The GP32 will never have games of that quality (unless the GBA emu gets decent :D ). After all it is from Nintendo, a company that has much popularity, especially for handhelds. The custom chips do nice things in hardware making for really nice looking commercial games.

I use the GP32 for emus though as I like the nice large backlit screen. Also the fact that it can run all of the emus without resolution loss (GBA's 240 x 160 is not enough pixels to correctly display home console systems) is a big one for me. I also like the fact that you don't need earphones to get stereo too.

What exactly do you mean about emus being "twitchy"? Do you mean that they are buggy, slow, or that the GUIs are kind of fidgety?

The good news is that it is easy to have both which I do. each one has its strengths and weaknesses.

While I can't deny theres been some great games on the GBA. I must say that it has been the most dissapointing console/portable in a while. THe SNES and Mega Drive had a lot more better games. Hence I sold mine. And will not purchase another nintendo console unless the DS amazes me (unlikely). PSP for gaming and GP32 2 for Emus. Thats my portable console line up for next year :D

Yes *of course* the GBA has a damn big homebrew scene, but the point is that 95 procent of gba+fc owners use their flashcart only for commercial games and sometimes for emulating nes, pce or sms - but homebrew games, well i dont think many put these on their cart instead of quality commercial games.
on gp32, nearly everyone has a few to ober hundreds of pd games on their smc , because there arent any commercial games and you have much more space than on flashcart with smc.

ps: reboot, shaking the keyboard and everythign else didnt work. maybe i have to buy a new keyboard :(

I was referring to see if he has used a QD before just to see why he hates N-Gage.

Well im just pointing out that the gba has a larger homebrewn scene
Yes, its larger because that scene is like quantity over quality. Of course GPAdvance will emulate almost everything on the GBA sooner or later so get a GP32.
