Gp2xengine 1.2 Beta

Great update! But is there no automatic regulation of game speed on this thing? At 266Mhz games like R-Type run way too fast. I'm looking for smoother game play not faster. Even the sound is too fast

Yeah that is what I was wondering. With the last release the GP32 GPengine was much better *at 133 MHZ*. It was smoother, better GUI, faster. Is this GP2X closer as in less frame skippy and less slowdown? Until it is I would stick with the GP32 version.

Still wondering if anyone has tried loading the translated versions of Xak 3 and/or YS4? It gives me a quick msg right before it goes to the push run now on the cd screen. It says Loading Incrypted Rom. Flashes real fast before. Then when you push run to start it, it says error loading rom. Any ideas?

=EDIT=
Ok I just tried to run YS1&2. Says the same thing as the others. Is Dracula X the only cd game that will run so far? I made the other .toc files up with the same format as Dracula X and I tried it the other ways it said you could do them in the readme, and I get the same results.

hm I have some weird problem playing DraculaX rondo of blood (Castlevania).

I have the ISO+MP3 version, but whenever I run it, I just get some flashgame like game with crappy 3D sprites and japanese text. Some sort of a crappy castlevania remake which would be very short if it was.

EDIT: nevermind. I had the wrong syscard.pce

the best one seems to be Super CD-ROM2 System V3.00 (J)

I haven't tried the CD games yet, but man-o-manoschevitz!! Does it flicker!!! The previous version didn't flicker this bad; I tried applying the LCD tweak, without it, different speed settings ... all scenarios have terrible flickering.

I'm going to risk asking a stupid question, seeing as I haven't downloaded the thing yet, and therefore haven't had a chance to read the readme, by asking: Does this thing support TurboGFX games and/or Super-CD games (as opposed to merely CD ones) yet?
Super CD Rom games run, as well as cd-rom ones. Have yet to try any which run on an arcade card yet.

Will give strider a go later and report back.

Which FW do you have?

I was testing on 1.1, now I have 1.2 ...

aha! It seems to flicker ONLY if I use the LCD tweak ... wierd. Disregard ..

I am having trouble with this emu playing ISO's, I have loaded the TOC file in and it then goes to the boot screen of the CD, I hit start (Run) the game starts with full sound but no music, my files are named correctly, converted to wavs (i have also edited the TOC and tried MP3's) but still I get no music, the music files play fine in windows and they are recognised as wav files (or mp3's depending on which ones i used).

Has anyone got it to work with CD music yet, or is it not emulated?

Thanks.

Mine emulates the music just fine. But the only cd game I can get to work is Dracula X. It gives me some error when u push start on the cd screen that says loading encrypted rom, and then it gives some error.

it is emulated. Make sure to not use spaces in the wavs, that's a problem I ran into first ;)

I'm having some problems with Dracula X as well. I can run the game fine, but the audio isn't in sync. When the intro starts, the guy talking is already a few seconds into his narration. The same thing happens when I start playing. When stage one starts, the music is already a few seconds in. I've tried everything to fix it. Has anyone had the same problem and was able to fix it?

A hack you could do, I suppose, would be to record a silent wav file that is however long each piece tends to be starting into it, and then use a .wav joiner to clip it onto the start of each track.

You might end up with a big patch of silence every so often when music looped, but it would be in sync to start with :)
