okay, so it's new and looks nice. but.....

no must have games and no must have emu's that you don't have on the GP32

why would you want to pre-order 1?

Uh... The machine ain't out yet. Would be kinda hard to have that much emu's and games.

Besides, I sold my GP32. :p Have to buy something to fill the hole. :)

Who do not want a bether looking GP32 , more powerfull...
Only that it can handle divx/xvid encoded files with the same bitrate as a standar DVD2AVI backup.. Makes me wanna go steal one right now...

I almost ordered a PSP but the price for memsticks are so high!

How 'bout this: You have enough Buttons to Play SNES without stupid Tricks. AND you can watch it on your big TV. Additionally Linux opens door for more than 100000000000000000 Possibilities.

MegaCD support, better SNES, Neo Geo maybe, PCEngine with savestates, better video functions (no more encoding, yay!), SD Cards, playing on TV, etc., this is gonna be great!

I'll almost certainly get one next year, once I've let the early adopters sort out the 'issues' and the emulators get nicely sorted.
I wasn't all that keen until I found out about the tv-out. That right there sells it.
A nice modern mame romset I can play on my telly, all built into the controller? Sign me up.

Its gonna be brilliant, just plonk ya self down in front of the wide screen tv. Plug in your GP2X and away you go. When your missus comes downstairs to steal the TV to watch her soaps, simply press pause..unplug and move to a different TV. Ahh the joys of married life :)

Better yet, I'll macgyver a USB-atari connector to it trough powered USB-hub, and use my Tac-2 with the 80's machines, and USB-SNES controller with, you guessed it. :)

I seem to recall MD using atari-connection aswell, but needing a switch between... There were instruction for an MD-to-Amiga switch on a finnish computer magazine once...

(Though, I'd rather play with mah wife, than GP2X... If I had either...)

Any update on the TV out? Its just another cable we'll need to buy and we're good to go?

I doubt I'll use that option much, but .. maybe it'll blow our midns and we'll all be using it all the time :) Jacking into a TV without hauling out the original console... instant dozen-consoles-on-TV? Could rock :) (I have most of those joystick based mini-systems..)

It is a cable that you buy and it otputs S-video. I would have liked RGB SCART out too but S-video is not bad, a hell of alot better than RF or composite.

Hee! I'm more concerned about the missus borrowing the GP2X that watching the TV

See just about all posts above...More power means more games and more systems, TV output is a big factor for me and more buttons is...well, awesome. I never had a GP32, so it makes sense to go with the more powerful system at this point.

Plus I gotta say...I think it looks fantastic on top of everything it does/is going to do. The design is much snazzier than GP32 or PSP, IMO...

Does anyone know if you can disable the lcd when you're using tv-out? Im sure it would save some battery power that way

The same could be said about the GP32 - why did people buy that one? When it came out there was zero emulators, and incredibly little commercial support. People still bought it though and look where it is now.

So take a more powerful console and where do you think it'll take you?

IMO the GP2X needs to have some emus that are unique to the GP2X. So it can be differentiated from being gp32_console more powerful brother.

When a full speed Amiga emu comes out (ever optimistic) then that would definitely sell units.

I already have a GP32 and I'm keeping it.. And I'm STILL getting a GP2X.

At this point, it's like apple-raspberry juice and apple-strawberry juice. Sure a lot of the base emulators are the same... Many of the same functions as the GP32 are carried over (Apple juice in both bottles), but one is going to be able to run that many more emulators, a few more ports that weren't possible on the GP32, play a few more formats of music and video, have the sparkling sugar added of TV-Out and extra buttons.

But some people think what the GP32 has is fine enough for them, or want to wait and see what happens, and more power to them.

Some people are very excited about the GP2X, and want to be able to download each and every update and new software or version of an emulator and marvel at what's new.

I however am a greedy bastard, and I'm having both and no one can stop me. (Except more delays).
