Gp2x Now Slightly Broken

the gp2x is not fragile at all....
Yeah, it's pretty solid from my experience. Some sort of focused pressure on one corner of the screen is bound to break the protector. Not a design fault where I come from. Why's the guy who doesn't have a gp2x commenting on it's durability?
I hope you don't mean me

@Vynx, you could always ask the gp2x.co.uk shop if they have a new screen window, they might have one.

Shipping from HK looks FAST, I will have a MK2 very soon indeed. (it's already in the US :))

Its kinda funny how everyone is defending it....
It would be more funny if the defences were wrong, but I've dropped my 2X a few times - heart skipping a beat - and it's come out with barely a scratch.
It may feel light and cheapish (definitely compared to the DS), but it's holding up just fine.

Vynx, the GP2X is not like a DS. One accident or mistake and BOOM, it's gone. Craigix, you should put "fragile" on the shipping packages because any type of movement could practically dismantle the GP2X.
What was the point of that comment? How would you know that?

aside from the LCD which is what you would expect, i've seen a GP2X come out almost unscathed from a major impact - maybe 5 pieces came out, all intact, all ok for popping back in but other than that it performed remarkably well and would receive around a 4 STAR rating from the car safety dudes

obviously no LCD leaves me with no GP2X to speak of :( , but don't dog the quality and strength until you have seen one "tested to destruction" with your own eyes

Vynx, I hope you get your stuff back together! I'd hate to see my GP2X in such a state. My lovely Latina cracked the LCD on her MP4 music/video player (which was partly the precursor to me getting a GP2X in that the GP2X handles both of those things as well as the stuff it shines at). It still works but it bothered her. Fortunately she doesn't use it for video.

My GP2X is still playable, but it is quite offputting. I'm just grateful it was just the plastic casing and on the LCD screen that was damaged. I'll probably just stick with my DS for awhile until I get it fixed, might have some new games to download and play by then, give me something to look forward to.

If I've seemed a little ratty in this thread, it's because my GP2X broke the same day I decided to quit smoking - bad timing or what?

As Hooka said, get a replacement cover. Gp32z sells them for $6 I believe.

another way of looking at this i suppose is that i've not been able to source another LCD (without buying a full unit) so that would maybe suggest there aren't many scrappers out there

Heh! Congradulations, man! You'll be healthier and live longer!

My mom said eating carrots helped her, but the biggest thing was not hanging around anyone who smoked. She said it was impossible for her to quit until she forced herself to do that.

This was all before my time.

Hi, my name is David, and I have an addiction to Maria. I can't stop thinking about her. It affects my work, my sleep. Especially my sleep...

Edit: addition != addiction

Well, a little fragile. I've dropped mine twice, and always had the same problem afterwards. It won't power on.

I freak out, thinking it's dead, then I check the batteries. And both times, the lower battery terminal was jammed in so tight that the cell wasn't making contact.

I thought that was kind of wierd that it happens no matter how it fell...

Will the screen cover still come off for replacements on the MK2?

I hope so, i'm ordering it today

I'm pretty positive it will, my stepdad seems to think so, and he's an electrical engineer, so i'll take his word for it ;)
