Hey guys, I got a GP2x for christmas and a Sandisk 1gb memory card. I was able to put files on the memory card, however I cannot get the GP2x to see the files. When I go through the menu and go to look for files on the SD card, its simply blank. Is there something I am missing, or need to do first? Please help

Make sure you have the SD card formatted to FAT32. Also, this is the gp32 section of the forums, not the gp2x section, please read the titles more carefully next time.

MODS: Please move this to the gp2x help section.

I'd love to help.

To start, what game or emu are you trying to install and play?

And be sure you installed the libs. I believe theyre necessary to play most games:

Right now I'm even trying to play a game, Im just trying to get my GP2x to see files. I put the firmware update files on the mem card and when I go into GP2x and go to browse files off the SD card, there is nothing there.

ok, with the FW files on your sd, when you booted up your system, did you see and updating firmware screen?

If it can't read your files at all, even in the file explorer, then you need to format your SD card to FAT32. In windows you would right click on the drive that your SD card is in, select format, and then switch the "file system" to FAT32.

Thanks for the reply. I tried this, but it still doesn't see anything, not even in explorer or anywhere.

well.... i'm stumped..... it should be able to see your files..... I guess it's possible that your SD card isn't supported at all, but I am pretty sure any SD card will work with the gp2x.... What are you using to put files on your card? (card reader?)

I am using the USB to put files on as I don't have a card reader.

I have read of similar accounts of this happening when you use the gp2x to transfer files..... You should pick up a cheap SD card reader, it shouldn't even cost $10, and I'm pretty sure it will work then. If not, e-mail whoever you got your gp2x from and ask them.... maybe the SD card is defective/not supported or maybe your gp2x is defective......

i haven't got a card reader yet so i am using my digital camera as one lol. whatever works right?

well, you stumped me....... i don't know what's wrong. Either wait for someone else to help you or contact whoever you got your gp2x from.

This is going to be a stupid question. Is the SD card inserted correctly? (Contacts facing towards you.)

yes, the SD will only go in one way, and I ahve double and tripple checked that it is in correctly...Again, it will let me write to the card, only the GP2x doesn't see anything I put on there.

You said you are putting the firmware updates on there right? Well don't they get deleted after startup?

Try putting on a few low res jpeg images and try to open them with the image viewer.

When clicking on the above link it says to use the root directory of the SD card (which I have heard mentioned somewhere else before). I was wondering how this is done.
