Gp Cinema 2.0 Release!!!!

I alwaYS THOUGHT MPEG1,2 AND 4 WERE VIDEOS AND Mpeg 3 was for sound

MPEG1, 2 and 4 is a videostream.

But videos also have sound.

Sound encoding has been developed together with MPEG1.
They called the sound "Layer"

The first (and worst version) was MPEG1 Layer 1
That means, video encoding = MPEG, Sound Encoding = Layer 2.

A slightly better one has been MPEG1 Layer 2.

The best they could develop is MPEG1 Layer 3.

Because it was that good, they used that audio encoding algorithm for sound files also. Because it's MPEG1 Layer 3, they called it MP3.

MPEG2 also uses MP3 sound, no need for more layers.

What MPEG4 uses, I don't know... I also guess, MP3.

I don't know because a lot of guys (Microsoft, etc.) have been developed a "new" MPEG Standard and called it MPEG4.

BTW: The next MPEG by the ORIGINAL developers (MPEG = Motion Picture Experts Group) is MPEG7.
This also includes Meta-Data. So you can include 3D data, etc. for real time rendering.
i.e. you could develop virtual games running on all Next-Gen DVD Players (if they support MPEG7)...

But this is still the future...

damn, the qulity in GPCinema 2.0 is much better than GPCinema's. I was watching a video with GPcinema and them annoying blocks (Compression blocks or something, I dont know) appeared on darker areas of the video. I then played the Same Video in GPCinema 2.0 and there was NO Blocks, it was perfect!!!

Only thing I find strange with GPCinema 2.0 is when you set it to 178mhz, the Video / Sound Slow right down. and with a Southpark episode, whe I set it to 166mhz it was slow but when I went down to 160mhz (I think thats the next lowest is isnt it?) It went full speed.

Sorry but there is no difference with Xvid and Divx between GP Cinema 1.0 et 2.0 (the author told me it himself).
You surely dreamt. :)

nope. Give me a Email address and Ill send you the video. Ill tell you the parts to look out for. Im going to go get my GP32 to double check it.

---EDIT---

Just tried it again and I can asure you, i was NOT dreaming. I got NO blocks on the screen with GPCinema 2.0 but with Gpcinema, I got Blocks on the screen.

I thought at first, maybe GPcinema 2.0 is actually running faster than 166mhz when set to 166mhz (like maybe its actually going 168mhz) and its processing the video faster and removing the blocks, BUT I knocked Gpcinema 2.0 down to 150mhz and still NO Blocks.

Overall, GPCin 2.0 quality is better somehow then and anyway, whats the point in releasing another version if you dont make the picture quality any better?? I think the picture is much better. :)

Hi!

Just added a new category to the GP32x File Archive.
With preview pictures :)

Check it out!

Oh yes:
Get the GPCinema Skinmaker for Windows (only Korean language, though) here.

@ED Mr Twit made an English language version of the Skinmaker.

Also GP32Spain has tons of skins. You could ask Anarchy if he wants them mirrored. (Best one is Goddess Saga.)

GP Cinema may have been compiled with the BLU in mind, so on a FLU screen darker areas won't look as blocky (!?!)

Steve-O > So the author is dreaming. :)

Of course Gomwing isn't dreaming when he says he hasn't changed that bit of code - but it is entirely possible in adding other bits or using a newer compiler or something that it would end up working slightly differently than originally it did.

Fact is, Steve has a movie that looks better using GPC 2.0 to him; the worst thing that's going on is his eyes are playing tricks; the best is there's been a slightly random and completely unintended quality improvement.

Any reason why the latter would be a BAD thing?

Please don't insist. :)

I tried myself and it's the same with old films and there are exactly the same "big pixels" in every film I tried. ;)

gomwing told me there is NO difference with the "old films", I think he knew what he said (I even bored him with my questions about improvements decoding Divx and Xvid), else who?

Cool, I must have a super version of GPcinema 2.0 then (I better not delete it off my SMC ;) ) hehe... I have only compaired 1 video with GPcinema and GPcinema 2.0

btw, my Eyes are perfect. Went to the Eye place the other month for a check up and they said they are excellent.

sam, check your PM's. I need your Email address :p

Drum. What GP32 do you own?

Movies do indeed look much better on the FLU unit in terms of the blocks (this is due to the washing out of colors on the FLU- it makes them harder to see)

Drum- you like myself have owned a FLU and a BLU; surely you noticed this. I think this is what Steve-O is talking about when he says they look better on the FLU

EDIT: @ Steve-O ----> I understand what your saying :) I think you have misunderstood me though. I was talking about Drums comment "works better on FLU... " The reason gpcinema looks better on a FLU (and I'm not just talking about .2) is because it washes out colors

is what Steve-O is talking about when he says they look better on the FLU

no, I mean - Now with GPCinema 2.0 when using it in my BLU, I dont get blocks like I do when using GPcinema (the first one) in my BLU.

Im going to get some pictures to show you (If possible)

---EDIT---

Now I understand what you are saying :)
