As clach04 has been working on GnuBoy, I updated the Pandora port to the latest version.

It improves compatibility with some games and has some other fixes (like timings, etc.)

Please could someone tell me, is there a way to remap the controls, by any chance? :) (I couldn't find one in the previous release, so I'm wondering if I should download this one or not. :p )

Yes you can :)

This is covered in the docs, which you can get to from the main/front page of http://code.google.com/p/gnuboy/

There are a few different docs but you need the http://code.google.com/p/gnuboy/source/browse/trunk/docs/CONFIG doc.

Right now there is no GUI menu, I'd love to add one (I'm just not sure when I'll get around to it). I'm toying with the idea of taking the code from the Oh Boy or Lemonboy ports and adding an in emu menu for the SDL build. So this means you need to create the config file with a text editor.

The main reason I started working on gnuboy is that the number of forks/ports keeps growing and it would be good to reduce that number so that everyone can use/share the same code. I'm really pleased that Evil Dragon was able to take the same code and get it going on the Pandora. If anyone is interested in hacking on this please let me know (note I don't have a Pandora so I probably won't be reading this forum regularly).

^ Fantastic! Thankyou very much for pointing me to that (especially in your first post!), it's very much appreciated. :D

Oh Boy is a gui menu system for gnuboy and is is now available from http://code.google.com/p/ohboy/ (source code via SVN), .

It is known to work on:

  • Linux x86
  • Dingoo Native

Windows should work but I've not had chance to test, if someone is handy with a build toolchain it shouldn't take too long to get on a Pandora.

Hm. I found no .pnd at the google code link. I did download the latest pnd from the repo, but it works strangely. It opens the frontend, lets me select a rom, then pops up a selector for scaling. However, it always goes with no scaling, no matter whether I select fullscreen, 2x or no scaling. The exception is proportional scaling - That crashes the pandora.

Did I get the wrong pnd?

This used to work great for me, but once I updated to newest version in the repo I started getting the same error.

Just figured out a problem I have had for months with compressed .zip files and crashing the app

If there is an additional file (in my case a README) in the .zip, it can interfere with your gnuboy launching with the correct file. Delete any extra garbage from your archive and see if it works better.

The scaling doesn't work for me either. Same problem as others, proportional freezes the Pandora and the other settings just don't work. And does this have realtime clock support? For Pokemon Crystal and such?

OK, GNUBoy worked for me for a long time, but with the new update, I'm having issues again. When I select Proportional or no scaling, it does what the picture I took shows. When I select Fullscreen, it works, but doesn't scale. Also, sound stutters for all modes.
