i bought a replacement glass screen for my gp32 here:

http://www.gp2xstore.com/catalog/Gp32-10-1.html

and had a look at

http://www.gp32.co.nz/mods.php

for the tutorial on how to replace it. i'd like to do the "safer glass screen mod" version but the gp32z.com link is dead.

how are you supposed to get the grey surround to pop off like in the picture? can you just prise it out with a flat-head screwdriver? i thought i'd better ask before trying it in case i do any damage.

thanks

joanne

I used a small screwdriver on the lower corners. Then you can just pull it off. The adhesive is in the middle at the bottom IIRC.

Bonus... I just bought one of these glass screens for my GP32 too. I'd imagine you'd want to use something other than a screwdriver to pry off the grey surround as it would be too easy to damage it?

I'm thinking either a *really* broad like a razor blade or stanley knife blade?

From memory, I think I used a thin, flat, and relatively blunt, round ended knife.

joanne342, I posted some instructions a long time ago, which apply to the FLU unit - it's very important to seal the hole where the light cable comes in, otherwise you'll get dust recurring under your new screen -

One other thing. Immediately before you replace your new glass, use a camera brush gently on the screen itself (horizontal strokes only, if it's a FLU), and on the underside of you new glass cover.

To add to these replies. Be extremely careful when prying up the grey surround, I wound up snapping mine when I did it and bought another one. I highly suggest, if you have the right screwdriver, to take apart the GP32, the grey surround doesn't get all those little dents then.

The screen is stuck on very well. My screen broke when later I tryed to remove it from within to get at the select button which I was going to fix.

i've done it. many thanks. it's 100 times better now. i can actually see the screen :)
