Trust the recursion...
As I'm sure many of you know, I sent my GP32 to Mashmods, hoping to fix my unresponsive R button, among other things. And when I got it back, it was only good for about 30 minutes, until it became horrifyingly unresponsive. So, then I set out to fix the darn thing myself.
Since I haven't opened my GP32 myself before, I think the installation would have been a lot easier, but, when I opened by GP32 up, I couldn't pull the back off all the way, I could only separate it one side by 1/4 inch. So, that made putting the button back a lot harder than I thought, it also caused me to temporarily mess up the power on/off switch (Scared the shit out of me, but don't worry, I fixed it ).
So, when I took out the shoulder button, I saw the actual R button:
I tried clicking it a few times just to check it out and it worked fine. So, my first thought was to leave the R button out and just use it like that, but, I had a feeling that would be too ghetto, so I took a look at the actual R button:
(When I first tried to take the R button out, that metal piece got loose and fell inside the GP32, so, after jiggling it around a bit, I managed to get it back out and put it back on)
Is it supposed to look like that? If so, that's a horrible design. Anyways, just to make sure I could, I put the shoulder button back on, and I noticed that it fell down instantly (there was nothing supporting it), so, it was too loose. At this moment, I thought maybe some piece that's supposed to support it fell into the GP32, unforuntately, I wasn't able to obtain it. So, I decided to make my own support, several folded pieces of paper:
(I tucked in the paper on the left side of the button before I put it back on)
So, after putting it back on, I got excellent results.
So, what do you guys think? I'm guessing something similar to this has been done before because it's a relatively simple solution that someone was bound to think of after looking at the button.
