Alright, I upped to FW 2.0 and im now trying to get the samba client to work..

"USAGE:
- Connect to the gp2x with the samba server \\gp2x with the windows explorer
and coy all the directories inside the zip.

- Ussing telnet create a mounting directory
mkdir /mnt/winshared

- Again ussing telnet
smbmount //machine/directory /mnt/winshared"

I managed to get through the first two steps, but im stuck with the third, watch this:

Ive tried creating the unexpected file with the touch command, but then the error messages go away but its still saying "151: connection to machine failed
SMB connection failed"

Now, what in the world am i szupposed to do?

o_O
NOW I'm feeling stupid...
The first lines dont have nothing to say, i already got /mnt/winshared created

I do not even dare to ask, but it looks like i have to :p
what have i done wrong? ^^

*takes cover*

//machine/directory is a example, adjust it to your pc's ip and sahred folder.

also i sugest useing /mnt/ext as mountpoint, that way you are able to brows the files with the menu point "ext storage"

This may sound like a stupid question... Well, it is. :)

Does this work through USB, or does one need BoB for it?

Make sure you have enabled 'Advanced Menu' option in the settings menu - without that the USB networking options simply do not show up.

Took me a while to figure that out myself

What port is the telnet connection .

I am using terra term telnet client , and I keep getting a time out . All drivers are installed and it is connected becasue I can access the gp2x via run \\gp2x .

I don't know what is up with me not having the stock one that coems with windows .

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... but I keep getting "Failed to find real path for mount point" After doing this:
"smbmnt //10.1.0.234/GP2X /mnt/ext"

I've also tried
smbmnt //KEVS/GP2X /mnt/ext

and
smbmnt //10.1.0.234/GP2X /mnt/winshared

and
smbmnt //KEVS/GP2X /mnt/winshared

but it just refuses to mount this shared directory :( Any ideas?

I don't understand. How am I supposed to "- Connect to the gp2x with the samba server \\gp2x with the windows explorer
and coy all the directories inside the zip"? I'm assuming this is from "tools/connect to network station"... (I hate localized versions...)

But what is the \\server\folder I'm supposed to connect to?

And telnet doesn't even find smbmount, perhaps due to the previous problem... As I have not copied anything anywhere. :p

Well I can help you up to the point where I am stuck ;)

once you have configured the IP and turned on the samba server, and configured you PC IP, and the network over USB is connected:
Type "\\gp2x" into explorer and you can browse your GP2X

you copy the files into it.

Naa, I can connect with telnet just fine, and there appear to be no problems with the actuall connection... In the 2X end of things, just enabling the "samba server - on/off/allways on" is enough? I don't need to run anything else, from utilities or anything?

Shoul I be able to connect from this dialog too?

It's in finnish, but they do look the same, don't they?

i have problemes on my windows 2000 the required files are not presente and i can find them on my harddrive. i have only usb8023y.sys and rndismpy.sys. i have to modifiy the linux.inf file?
[RNDIS_CopyFiles_NT]
; no rename of files on Windows 2000, use the 'k' names as is
usb8023k.sys, , , 0
rndismpk.sys, , , 0

if i don, wload the NDIS driver : Here
i only have usb8023y.sys and rndismpy.sys.
