Anyone know any games that use only the supported modes, as opposed to demos? I doubt it, but hey, someone might!
Well the emulator doesn't even support sprites yet, so no game will run. The Yoshi story demo will definately not run since it is made to showcase as many features as possible. If anything it will be one of the last games to work.

wow.. its out allready.. argh and i missed the release :)
will test it know.. thanks to ENF65 !!!! and to all the others who posted working demos!
THANKS!

so cool...haven't read this post for a while....(heavy weekend).
exallent to see a alpha version of the emu....
somehow i never doubted this one....
nice to see talented coder's are willing to put time and effort in to my beloved little machine...
thank you enf65 for your emu...
and washo for his translation's....see you....i think.

wow...
this 3dplot demo takes on the gba 57sec... (until it moved over the whole screen and restarts)
and on the gp32 with GP Advance 11sec or so :D
VBA32(at 133) needs more than 1min and 20sec....
AWESOME....

i think we can talk now about fullspeed gba emulation, can we?

tested this leonard ed gba demo...
cant run it on VBA (windows) anymore, dont know why...
but i can remeber that it was MUUUUUUUUUUUCH slower :)

I think I'd believe it now. For the first time. In fact, I'd also believe GBA emu with SOUND and such, something even when i bought the GP32 (and had what until today I'd thought were waaaaaay over inflated hopes for it) I wouldn't have even dreamed of...

Can someone show pictures or videos of this in action, Sounds really cool.

It doesn't work on geepee32 so I can't try it by myself before i get my gp32 :(

Keep in mind that only two modes are emulated currently (the two easiest modes I might add), without sound and without any kind of stretching. Running two modes is one thing, but emulating 5 modes at the same time together with the sound chip and stretching to get it full screen is an entirely different story. I am not saying it won't happen but I wouldn't get my hopes up too much and then be disappointed.

I could not careless about it being full screen, I am just extreamly impressed the theory works and its running GBA code!

I really don't mind the menu and GBA surround being on the screen while things run, I also don't mind it in any other emu.

You know the 3d games on the GBA use these screen modes, so i'd guess those are the games which might show something first, doom, monkey ball etc.

Nah, I think your being to pessimistic. This a first, unoptomised, non overclocked test (in fact it might be running in GP default speed, which is what, 99MHZ or 66, craig you should remember from doom?) , and in these modes is alreadty way faster at these demo's than the real thing.
My only worry is....how far can we UNDERclock? :)

This looks very promising.... i read it from the beginning as then you can see all the people who doubted it and laugh at them...... heh

*just joking but it's amusing that for so long people have been saying it couldn't be done and then were reluctant ot believe in the emulator when it was first being talked about....

I only hope we now don't get loads of n00b's asking why other emulators for things such as the PSX can't be made as easily (/as well)

THANKYOU WASHO for the translations keep them coming...

Unoptimized? It is not like you can optimize is much more than letting it live on the GP32 hardware and use ASM for the rest. The default clockspeed for the gp32 is 66Mhz. Would indeed be interesting to know what clockspeed it is running at. These modes are not much of a problem since it is living on the hardware. Remember, the faster it is now the more features can be implemented. Such as full screen, good sound etc.

I only doubted it after reading all the posts in the "GBA whine" thread (which was pinned - maybe should be deleted in the near future), and came to that conclusion. I don't doubt it now. In fact the plasma effects I've tested run very fast and very smooth.
