Yep, locate all GBA emulation questions here... Anyway, i'm seriously looking forward to a GBA emu... why? Because the Japanese version of Yggdra Union is slated for march... while the U.S. release is slated to Fall '06... Naturally, i want to play the Japanese version with a translation patch portably... so yeah... back to the topic

Well, you could have just bumped the old topic. The answer would still be the same, that being "not happening for the forseeable future, but maybe someday."

I think it should be doable. You can get morphgear for pocketpc which is playable the specs for gp2x is not that different from mid end pocketpc. furthermore ideas like gpadvance or colinux (where cpu is native) could be implemented.

27 FPS with an XScale running at over 700 MHz is not 'playable'. (A 700 MHz XSCALE is the rough performance equivalent of a 350 MHz ARM9, BTW.)

Rember, this isn't like 27 FPS in a first-person shooter. It's 27 FPS on a framerate-locked game engine. Meaning if it can only draw 27 Frames per second it will repeat them for the rest to make 60. So, the game will run at less than half proper speed.

you're right; that is what frameskip is for. however, the program author must take care that the emu doesn't waste time rendering frames that are skipped. "playable" means different things to different people, i guess. but personally i get rather annoyed by frameskip unless it's an rpg.
