When my GP2X is empty (as in, with no SD card inserted) and I open the Games option within the menu. I get a folder called 'games', which I didn't create, is this right? i'm wondering if thats whats getting in the way of the GP2X reading the SD card. I cannot delete it either.

yeah the F200 stupidly creates directories when you first use the built in applications....games, ebook, video, pictures, etc etc

You should be able to delete it, but re-running the function-specific built-in launcher (games, movies, etc) will re-create the folders.

I would highly recommend that you ditch the built-in launcher in favor of GMenu2x, like we all do.

Personally, I ended up using the folders created by the F200, but you don't have to, especialy if you use gmenu2x.

Okay, is there any way of installing this or even re-installing a F.W. without the GP2X being able to read the SD card? Should get my new card through the post by wed. but just wanted to see if this is possible in case it doesn't work still.

grasshoppir: yeah yeah whatever =P You're right but it doesn't matter =P~

Nick: I don think you need to reinstall the firmware... GMenu2x is an application that runs on top of the GPH Launcher (think Win3.1 running over DOS) so you can run it without modifying anything.

Otherwise I am not sure I understand your last post entirely

Grasshoppir, good point well made.

What I mean is, if the unit cannot recoginise an SD card, is it possible to install anything to it by any other means?

I'm still speculating about my unit as to whether I'll be able to fix it if this new SD card doesn't work, meaning it's the GP2X that has a fault. I know I shouldn't speculate but I'm impatient!

The game folder is created by selecting the game icon in the gp2x console which goes onto the sd card automatically, i don't think gmenu2x works on gp2x f-200.

I was wrong about gmenu2x yes it does work i didn't have the .gpu file in the root of my sd card.
