OK So I'm thinking of getting one of these devices to keep me going until Pandora arrives.

I've been to http://www.dingux.com/

Lucky by this time I already knew what digux was, because if I didn't the site would have been meaningless.... Anyway all the latest news on Digux, but no apparent download link - or any information on how to install.

Then I found http://dingoo-scene.blogspot.com/

Excellent, a beginners guide to how to install. Still no sign of where to find the required files.

Nothing apparent at openhandhelds.org...

Ah! I found the Wiki! It has a link to the dual-boot firmware installer, which is a good start. But the Digux to which the Wiki points is simply the root fs, no apps! And nowhere to seemingly find the apps! The beginners guide mentions a file called local.zip, or local-10.zip which is Digux with all the apps already installed. Unfortunately, although the file names are highlighted in blue, with an underline - they are not hyperlinks. So still, no sign of where to get the files!

Can anybody help?!!
Shouldn't these files be posted on the openhandhelds file archive?

hi there.ive been thinking about getting a dingoo too.and when i was looking up about Dingux and messing round on dingux.com i think a came across the files you were after in a download section for some other stuff. it was in the topic (6th one down from the top in the main menu on dingux.com) "(YET ANOTHER) release of system and tool chain" click get them from here option under that heading.let me know if that helps (I hope it does).sorry that a could'nt give you a easy link because i simply (like ME) don't know how to make one. :p

dingux-system-20090730.tar.bz2 Dingux system installaction pack. Contains kernels and rootfs. Uses only first FAT partition on miniSD card (see ChangeLog). 2 days ago 10.3 MB

The file you need is at the top of the list, Via the link that euleberlin posted.

So the kernals and rootfs is the package that includes all the most recent emulators as well?

To get/install Dingux
1. Get the dual boot installer and the latest “dingux-system” from:
http://code.google.com/p/dingoo-linux/downloads/list
2. Install the dual boot using included instructions.
3. Copy the rootfs and correct zImage (from the dingux-system archive) to your MiniSD card.

Now you need a menu and some applications. These are stored in the ”local” folder on your miniSD.

I’ve found two good sources for the local folder

This thread has a good local folder and Warpedflash includes shareware WADs and sample games for most of the ports and emulators.
Get the “Local dump” from the first post and extract the local folder to your MiniSD and your good to go.
However, this version lags behind in the latest apps and features:

For a more updated Local folder this one is based off of Warpedflash’s folder structure but is more regularly updated.
This is the one I use [with the Reminisce and Duke3D from Warpedflash’s version] :

Thanks guys for all your help. I've updated the Wiki with some of the information you've given. Now all that's left to do is find me a Dingoo! :D
