Finally a "real" Humble Bundle (#9) again

Releasing the sources has hurt Wolfire, I don't think any indies will want to release their sources after that.

Does anyone know what happened with this? We're kind of left hanging here. iCoder wrongly believes they have rights that they don't, illegally releasing an app which is nothing short of a slap in the face to the original developers, Apple makes a huge mistake in allowing it against the obvious copyright infringement (which is supposed to be discovered part of their process and part of why it takes so long to get apps approved), and another mistake in taking so long to get it removed, and when it finally does come down that is the last anyone talks about it. Seems like Wolfire just dropped it entirely. No followup from Apple explaining what happened, nothing from Wolfire talking about potential legal steps they are taking against iCoder. Searches yield nothing but those few days from February 2011. I feel the need for a conclusion, even if it's just Wolfire saying "not worth our time".
the fact is that closed source model is just necessary, like open source model, they just can't fit everyone needs...
That wouldn't necessarily have stopped anything. iCoder wrongly believed they had the right to distribute the art assets when they didn't, but even if they didn't believe that they could have still just as easily simply taken the binary, repackaged it, and put it back up without any source code whatsoever and the same thing would have happened. In that case they would KNOW that they were in the wrong, but it would have still played out the same way. The open source just gave them the courage to go through with it and think it was ok. If we assume that iCoder aren't bad people, just willfully ignorant, then we have to assume that if they'd actually understood the license they wouldn't have even tried, in which case the problem isn't open source but education: stupid is as stupid does.tl;dr; there's a lot of arguments for open vs closed software, but this isn't one of them.

and without speaking of problem, just releasing sources represent some work...

open source is great, but it can't just fit every company needs...

Bought it. Mark of the ninja and trine 2 are worth it alone.

No interest in brutal legend or fez ftl sounds intetesting though.

Bought it, already have FTL, all the other games are borederline awesome. Well eets munchies looks kind of weird but I might give it a try.

Beat Fez. Awesome game, proves that all kinds of people can make cool things :p

Four new games added:

- Rocketbirds

- A Virus named Tom

- Bastion

- Limbo

At least "A Virus named Tom" looks interesting for me. Regarding Bastion (it is a really cool game, I like it a lot, especially the soundtrack): Am I the only one who thinks that it gets "Humble Bundle inevitable" ?

Bastion is nice, but half way through it got boring and I didn't continue.

Nice. A virus named Tom reminds me of Pipemania quite a lot, but clearly the spiders make things more interesting. If you like puzzle games like that you should perhaps check out Sokobond, which is Sokoban multiplied with chemical bonding.

One word of warning if you're a Linux user - it runs under Adobe Air, which doesn't support Linux any more. That said, I was able to install the last supported version eventually, and once I'd figured out how to use it, it runs under that.

Or you could wait until this turns up in a future indie bundle. As you say, kind of inevitable.

Ok, I just (almost) 100%'d Brutal Legend and it was easily worth every penny I gave to the bundle and more. Good game, go play it.

I already bought FTL and I have Brütal Legend on PS3, got the bundle mainly for Fez and Trine 2…

Even if, right now, I don't own any computer powerful enough to play those :p

That lugaru business seems to be applesoft repo failing rather than the source model.

Ive supported the lugaru myself, cant remember now if it was due to source provided or not, but that is a huge plus in my book, so surely they have made some money just because of that.

Maybe we can all chip in on "openpandora" for the attribution/donation tag? Surely we could get it into the top 10 and make the list.

Any suggestions for a good name that we can all go for? Im pretty sure its cummulative.

There is a mobile indie 2 bundle out now, we could try it there, 50 dollars is the treshold.
