I have added a port configuration section to the work-arounds section of the Wiki, in case this is your issue. You can find it at the following:

Excellent. That worked. I just got my console session up!

A question. I had three IP addresses in my winip file. I
tried them successively until one worked and it turned out
to be the last. Do you know what these all mean or are for and
if there is any way of determining, in general, which is the correct
one without the trial and error process?

Its probably not that important but I am curious.

It should be the last. I coded the script wrong and created the bug. It will be fixed in the next version.

I seem to have it running now. This is really wonderful. Excellent work!!!

I suggest a links section on the wiki since its not clear to me what is
provided by what subsystem and where to look for info always. For
example, my googling failed to turn up info on Xing. Also, might provide
a link to an apt-get guide since the first thing many people will want to
do is install their favorite software. Also mentioning a few useful
unix commands for discovery,

e.g.
find . -name whatever -print
pwd
df

might be good idea

One question I did have is how one copies to the clipboard. There is
Edit | Paste to paste from the clipboard and I tried selecting and pressing
ctrl-c which seemed to work the first time but then when I tried it again
it did not seem to change the clipboard the second time. I am not sure
which subsystem does that but its the main unresolved problem I have
since getting it installed.

By the way, its really neat that one can access the Windows file system.
I was not sure whether I should expect to be able to do that but in trying
the df command I discovered /mnt/c and then discovered I could read
my Windows files! Can one write to the Windows file system too? So
far I have not been able to do that or maybe that is not allowed?

Thank you. I am finally taking a break from developing it and spending a little time working with it. It is one of those things that you don't even realize you created. I really like it!

That is an excellent idea. I am not being funny when I ask this, but... want to write it? I just have so much on my plate right now. I really would appreciate the help. Also, it is Xming (basically a port of X.org to Windows [or a X client]).

Whatever is highlighted in the terminal window is in the clipboard. So just highlight with the mouse and you can paste what is highlighted. Good question though... I need to get this stuff added. Just no time.

Yes. The way the Windows drive is currently attached, the system uses Windows I/O calls to work with it (one of the benefits of running things in Windows). You have full NTFS access.

I forgot to add the Windows drive to the documentation. I was also planning on symlinking it to either the root dir or /opt, but it was one of the things that fell by the wayside in the rush to get it out the door. I wanted people to really understand the project which is why I released the POC version.

I am soliciting for help soon, so you are welcome to help. andLinux needs a logo too.

You are right. I can write to the drive. I initially thought I could not since
I get this error in vi when I try to create a file there:

Error: testlinux.txt: Input/output error.
testlinux.txt: WARNING: FILE TRUNCATED.
Press any key to continue [: to enter more ex commands]:

but when I try to read the file back its there. Any idea of what
the cause of this error is? It says error on the first line and
warning on the second so maybe its just a warning and not an
error? Don't understand what is being truncated. The whole
file seems to be there.

By the way, I have just deleted from my hard drive vmware,
Damn Small Linux (DSL) vmx distro, Quantian vmx distro
and qemu. Of the deleted software, DSL is the only one that
I actually got to work and seems quite nice but probably mostly
of interest in a standalone rather than vmx under Windows mode.
Although I was never successful in getting Quantian vmx running I
know someone else who did but I think the non-vmx boot from a dvd
form is probably where it would be of most interest. If one intends to
run Linux on Windows then based on my experience over the last
couple days of trying the alternatives, andlinux is definitely the way to
go.

I will try to keep some notes and send them to you.

There are still some bugs in the COFS file system (the one that communicates with Windows). It tries the write to NTFS as if it is a Linux file system and may give trivial error messages. These should be fixed in future version. I am in touch with the CoLinux developers and will create a patch if the beta isn't ready and CoLinux has that fixed. CoLinux claims that cofs isn't ready for production, but it is very close and I beat on the drives and found very little issues.

I am glad that you like andLinux. It really is one of a kind (I found this out a few days ago when talking with some of the CoLinux guys). I am sure everyone experiences this at one point in time, but for me it is one of those things that I created and now look at and am just amazed. If a company asked me to create this for them, I would have turned it down because it is "impossible" or "beyond my skillset"... but it exists. Now that I am using it, I am amazed at how fast it runs. I can't take the credit though, CoLinux and Xming are really the "powers" of this project. Not to mention the GP2X community who embraced the project. If it wasn't for them, it wouldn't exist.

I can't believe how many users there are already and all the feedback has been positive. The next version will really improve over this one, which makes me think that this project could become very large.

Just to let you know, I have had some emails from sites asking about posting articles about andLinux. The user base is going to grow drastically in the next few weeks. I am only going to accept help from the GP2X community because I don't want to lose the projects focus. Anyone here is welcome to help.
