The Pyra is a handheld computer/game console from a German company called Dragonbox. In many ways its a sequel to the Pandora handheld from a few years back, so it's got game controls, analogue sticks, shoulder buttons and a full keyboard crammed into a clamshell format, but adds two more shoulder buttons (should help with playstation emulation), faster wifi, a 720p screen and a replaceable CPU/RAM board.
Currently it's available to preorder. It's not cheap at 500EUR + VAT for the standard 2GB edition, but I've already pledged my support. As a user of a Pandora, I'm hoping for a repeat of the experience with emulators coming out to cover pretty much every old console and computer, and new open source games being ported to the console to this day, not to mention being able to use it to read and write documents or browse the web. I've ordered a version with an 4G/LTE modem built-in, so it should be even more usable on the move.
