Doom?

Most definitely.

Just that noone's tackled it yet.

I'm waiting for Doom2 because there are tons of free .wad packs for it that would eliminate the need for ownership of the official game, plus some new Wolfenstien levels.

Damn, why is such an old game that desirable? Doom (II) is just too good...
DOOM was made back in the day when developers, like Id, cared more about making a game that was fun to play over and over. Unlike today where developers, uh...like Id, care more about slapping together a game that's fun to play once or twice simply as a platform to show off how shiny and pretty everything is. Gameplay > Shiny Graphics!!!! I wish modern developers would figure that out.

All diatribes aside, DOOM is tied with MAME for my most anticipated apps for the GP2X. Zombie blasting on the go!

Hopefully it will eventually have a wad selector like the GP32 version. Otherwise you have to keep renaming to "doomii.wad" which gets tedious.

Good to hear. One of the things that makes me want to pick up the GP32 instead of the GP2X is the lack of doom on the latter :( . Im sure if this port has the actual Doom midi soundtrack(as in the correct instruments, the GP32 version had "different" instruments or whatever) then I would be a most happy camper. Anyways good luck with that chaps.

Has anyone noticed that Video Games have gotten EASIER through the years? Genesis games are SO much more taxing than most of the next-gen games I've seen.

Play Ninja Gaiden. Doesnt matter which one, just pick one...

You don't know hard until you have played them.

Yeah I have the Xbox 360 and most of the games are walkthroughs. They have "checkpoints" every 5 feet you move. COD2 was so bad at this that you didn't even care if you died, you just start off right where you were. To make things worse your health automagically comes back after a few seconds. It used to be that you had to find medpacks and there were saves only in a few spots. Not anymore. It is like the games all have a built-in gameshark that can't be disabled. They aren't even games really just walking demos, I don't see the point of permanent "god mode". With these games the cheat that you would unlock with a goofy button combo would be that the game plays itself and you wouldn't even have to touch the controller

Don't forget Shadow of the freaking Beast.. ;)

I never played the sequels, although I'm told they were actually harder than the original... *shudder*

Allan.

It's best to bump this topic so it'll stay alive, I really am looking foward to some GP2X Doom and hopefully soon after, Doom 2. I hope the controls arn't like Wolf3d for the GP2X.
