I have done all that was asked of me. My movies have been DivX. My movies have been, and still are, avi.
All I get is, "Unknown format". Please, in simple words how do I get the damn things to play?

Divx6 works fine for me as well.
Its most likely a unsuported audio codec, try mp2x from the archive it also support aac wich your audio probably is.

I use Pocket Divx converter and chose the PDA (PocketPC one) and thats suppose to work right. (GP2X here tommorow :)

Sounds like a similar problem I once had with DIVX encoded files.

When on your PC are the DIVX files represented with a DIVX file extention or a AVI file extention.

If they are in DIVX then this is what I did.

Right Click the file and choose OPEN WITH, then choose Windows Media Player.
When your file starts playing in windows media player go up to Menu and Choose Save AS.
Rename the file, at the end of the file name put .AVI, must be in capitals.
This should now save the file in the correct wrapper so your GP2X can understand it.

Hope this helps.

DivX5 or lower, or XviD up to current. MP3 or PCM audio only.
OGG too  just use .ogm contener renamed to .avi

THANX TO YOU ALL. I SHALL TRY AND TRY AND NEVER GIVE UP UNTIL
I CAN SEE AND LISTEN TO MOVIES AT THE SAME TIME. YOUR WORDS OF HELP
AND WISDOM ARE VERY MOVING. I MUST USE THE TOILET.
