Disillusioned?

Azure, you've been around for a while, i remember reading posts from you before alot of these emus were out and the thing under avatar even says "addicted to SNES on GP32" now if the emu is crap, then why are you addicted to it.

For what I use, this is great. I got my GP32 in August of 2003. I played littlejohn .3, PCengine, and homebrewn stuff. And the scene would die, and pick up, die and pick up.

We then got OSnes9x from Yoyo and a few updates and it's great. Superpunchout at 156mhz frameskip 1 with sound is full speed. But i'm not the person that goes out and downloads a kazillion roms, i only play what i have played before, so everything i play, works for me, sound or no sound, that to me is not an issue.

Then we got Gigadrive, which at the time was great, FDave then added some sound to it and we were happy. Then FGEN was released and FDave dropped off the scene, and now we have DrMD. You had the GP32 before any good Genesis emu was available, now we have very good (but not complete) emulation and you bash it.

Don't get me wrong, i can understand your frustration, but i believe you've had your GP32 longer than I have. From what was available when you first got it and what is available now, it doesn't make sense of why your bashing it.

I wonder ... do any of you folks donate to any charities?

I do, without expecting anything in return ... strange, eh?

I did donate to Small African Schoolchildren Foundation, and have yet to receive mine. Smells like scam. <_<

In this day and age of political correctness, I feel compelled to respond:

Damn, man, too many posts to respond to, so I'll just reply to the most eye catching one.

psj3809 - How about calming down there a bit and thinking before you post? I'm surprised that you are calling all my posts stupid. You seem to have just quickly read my post and then got all fired up and had to write this "attack" on me. How long have you been in the GP32 community? Judging by your member number (I know, not everybody becomes a member immediately when they join the community), I doubt you have been around here for too long. Okay, time to respond to all of your sensless comments (This is going to be soo much fun! How many "roll eyes" smilies can you count?):

Seems to be that there are a lot of good emulators out there but you seem to think instantly theyre crap because you said previously a certain game wouldnt work (bad rom) and on the Megadrive/Genesis all because theres not a sound when you hack someone in Golden Axe you think the emulators half complete ? Like someone else said try some other games, plenty to choose from.
I didn't say that GPengine was crap, this is why I'm saying that you should think about what you are going to post before you post it. And there was more than one game that I wasn't able to get to work. And it's not just game compatibility, I also mentioned the lack of saving. And many people have still been wanting RF support. I still think it's good, but not good enough for donation because of these points. <--- Not a spoiled brat

In most games that I have tried, and in mainly the games that I would use a Genesis emulator for, the sound playback is slow. Golden Axe, one of the games where the sound is actually fast, has the problem of ALL the sound being muted EVERY time you kill an enemy, which you do a LOT, so it gets annoying.

CastAway is a brilliant emulator and has some very very good games for it which work very well. Eg Stunt Car Racer and many many more. Somehow you cant figure out how to use it so you just give up , its very easy to use and one of my favourite emulators. Great games can be found on the net for it and theres tons.
Never played the Atari ST, so I don't have much interest in it. And I don't even know much about all of its games, so I don't know what's good and what's not. And I have a really hard time obtaining Atari ST games. I also never have been able to set it up properly and I always have questions/issues with controls. Because of these points, I don't use Castaway, and because I don't use it, I don't feel like I should have to donate money for it.

DrMD is brilliant, a few bugs here and there but on the whole it works very well. I love Golden Axe but dont really mind if a sound or two is missing.
Copied from intro:
In most games that I have tried, and in mainly the games that I would use a Genesis emulator for, the sound playback is slow. Golden Axe, one of the games where the sound is actually normal speed, has the problem of ALL the sound being muted EVERY time you kill an enemy, which you do a LOT, so it gets annoying.

LittleJohn is also very good, HUGE range of NES titles. Not sure why you dont like to use this more , specially all the Mario games etc
I used this a LOT already, a long time ago. I played MANY games on it and beat most of them. But then I started to run out of games to play (Since it's an old console for me, and since it really isn't up to my normal standards, I only enjoy playing games that I played as a child). And I already said that I didn't like the NES enough to warrant a donation.

sms32 is another one with great games, yet again you arent a big fan of it for some reason. Considering the GP32 is used mostly for emulation i'm stunned you dont like trying any of these old systems.
Again, just like with Castaway, I never played the SMS until I did it on emulation. And, just like with the NES, because it's not up to my normal standards (Normal standards are what would make a console good enough to the point where I would be able to try games on it I never played before and still have fun. For me, this starts with the SNES), there are only so many games that I can play. I was having fun with the few games that I did play, but those soon got dull and uninteresting. There were only 2 games that I really liked playing, Phantasy Star and Shining Force, but both my files ended up getting erased for some reason, so I stopped using it.

I bought the GP32 a long time ago being tricked that it could emulate SNES full speed with sound, along with many other people. I soon discovered that it couldn't do this. SNES is the sole reason why I bought the GP. The remaining systems that I thought that it would be able to emulate perfectly (Full speed with sound at reasonable FS with great compatibility) that I would like were NES, NGPC, PCE, GB/GBC, and Genesis. But this didn't end up being the case...

zxGP32 - Well this just sounds like a joke. You've never tried it and you dont plan to ? WHY ? Are you saying millions in the UK are wrong about this ? In my lifetime i've had a Spectrum/Atari ST/Gameboy/Megadrive and others but those 3 are emulated on the GP32. Thanks to emulation i can now try out the 'hated' C64, some Konami classics on the MSX, some older games on the Atari VCS and 800 and also console classics on the NES and Master System.

How can the spectrum be dull ? Much like the C64 it bought a HUGE generation of people into computer games and i actually like the more 'basic' versions of Bombjack and Commando and other games. Considering the Spectrum had just 48k its amazing some of the games out there.

How can you find it 'uninteresting' if you've hardly tried it ? Its like an american moaning about the rest of the world when they havent even got a passport to leave the country. (no offence to americans). Its like me saying 'i dont like chinese food' yet i havent tried it or i've tried one dish and then think the rest is all crap as well.
Can you try looking at things from different points of view? Or would that be too hard for you?
I grew up in the late NES/early SNES era, so I would obviously consider anything before that to not be too interesting because they would probably not be up to par gameplay wise. Graphics are an important aspect to me (VERY IMPORTANT. They even have a psychological effect that I don't want to go into), and the minimum amount of graphics that I accept would be at the NES level, since that's what I grew up with.

As for MAME i'm currently playing Breakthru, Star Force, Bombjack, Jailbreak and MANY other great games. Straight away you seem to write it off as its only going to play 'VERY old games that belong in the category as 'some old crap' you might as well have said as thats the way you make it sound. MANY people here much prefer the earlier great games of the arcade machines than the current ones. Plus the GP32 can obviously only do the earlier games as its not powerful enough to play the latest ones. Again what do you want ? The latest arcade games all emulated ??? Come on.
Never heard of those games. It seems MAME emulation on the GP is pointless because it seems like all the games that we'll be able to run at full speed with sound will be games that you could just use other emulators for, like NES, MSX, and what not. Many people may prefer to play the earlier games than the current ones, but does that mean that I can't prefer to play the more current ones? Is there something wrong about myself having a different opinion? I already know that MAME won't be able to emulate the latest arcade games, so I just ignore that aspect. What I see is that it'll only be able to emulate the earlier games, the games that I'm not interested in, which is why I'm not too fond of MAME. I DON'T WANT ANTHING FROM MAME.

I do find your replies really pretty stupid.
Maybe if you used that thing in your head called a brain to think about my posts and think about the post you are about to make, then you would realize that I'm not being a spoiled brat.

You moan about youre fed up of the GP32 etc yet you wont try half of the emulators as you instantly think theyre no good, you arent keen on the Megadrive emulator because 'a few sounds on Golden Axe wont play' and all because you cant figure out a simple emulator like Castaway you instantly give up on that.
Half of those emulators are things like Colecovision and what not. I've seen pictures/videos of the types of games that are on these VERY old systems, I'm NOT INTERESTED. What I'm interested in is coder's completing their emulators so that we have perfect (Full speed with sound at good FS, Great compatibility) GB/GBC, SMS, NGPC, and PC Engine emulation, instead these incomplete works that are trying to support the scene. It seems that the whole scene is concentrated on adding to the whole tower instead of going back down and fixing up and making the base stronger.

Yes graphics and sounds are a lot more simpler on the Speccy/NES and Master System and others, eg Atari VCS but so what ? The thing about games is PLAYABILITY. Yes you could have souped up graphics and sound on a Playstation II game but for many many of us here we prefer the retro style of games as gameplay was #1 back then not whizzy 3d graphics and some amazing soundtrack.
I don't care what you say, graphics are still an important aspect, and if it doesn't have at least NES graphics, then it better have amazing gameplay/music. Of course gameplay is what makes a game, but that doesn't mean that graphics can't make it worse.

Most of us here were bought up on old computers/consoles and we love playing the games still. I really dont get your comments as theyre pretty poor generally. Its like a spoilt kid throwing their toys out of the pram. Yes the emulators arent perfect, yes they havent all got a 300 page readme.txt to help out 'certain people' and yes you might have to try more than 5 games on a particular emulator to enjoy some of them but jesus what do you want ?
I wasn't brought up on old computers/consoles like the Colecovision, I was brought up on the NES/SNES. Is it my fault that I'm only 15? I'm sorry, but I can't help but be only 15 years old. By perfect I mean full speed with sound at reasonable FS with great compatibility with saves (I might have forgotten this saves aspect in this post of mine, but I don't have the time to go back and add it to all the parts where I mention what I consider to be perfect). What I want is for these faults to be fixed, so that we have a much better foundation on which we can add to with things like DrMD.

I'm not surprised you seem to be fed up with the GP32 as i cant believe any single programmer of any emulator out there could please you enough !!!!
If you just thought for a second before you posted, then you could have realized that I'm not being spoiled and that I'm not asking for true perfection. Dumbass

You sound like a spoilt brat
I literally laughed out loud at this

You talked about some other shit, but I think might post should suffice in answering the rest of your post since its based on your horrible misinterpretation of my post.

Trust me, I'm not a spoiled child. All that happend was that you greatly misinterpreted my post. So, if you could actually think for a moment about what you are going to post and what you are reply to before to launch this misinformed attack on me, I would greatly appreciate it.

I must add that since I joined the forums, I notice you have regularly contributed snide remarks and unwanted criticisms.

So far your comments in this thread have already offended at least one GP32 developer, and I can't see how you expect emulators to improve without enthusiasm from our end, in whatever form you feel appropriate - as it has already been said, donations are optional, a personal email to show thanks is often overlooked and always appreciated.

Since the GP32 has so little to offer you, why do you still hang around here, such acts are often thought of as trolling

And I'm sorry but I agree that you do come across like a complete spoiled brat

Could you please direct me to these "snide remarks and unwanted criticisms?"

All I'm saying is that we should work on fixing up all the older emulators before we go on doing this like SNES/GENESIS emulation.

I left the scene for a little while already because I lost interest in it, but I'm now starting to gain interest in the scene again because of fDAY.

Come on Azure. You must admit that saying things like "I've never played Atari ST before so that doesnt interest me" is pretty stupid.

Life is about trying new things and if you perservered you'd find many great games for the ST with graphics similar to the SNES/ Genesis in some cases.

I dont think people were flaming you because they think you should donate to every project. Its just because you came on here out of the blue and it sounded as though you were having a go at developers for not finishing their projects or for undertaking on projects that you don't like.

And if you were tricked into thinking the GP32 had full SNES emulation with sound, who tricked you? Maybe you should have researched it better, no?

How can you be dissatisfied???? ITS FREE!!

Its because of people like you that Reesy waits quite a while before releasing public versions of his emus... Quit complaining Azure!
Had you donated or done something for the community, then asked reesy, you would realize the true greatness of DRMD... :p

BTW I'm not dissapointed by having a damn near perfect: NES, Genesis, Master system, Gamegear, Gameboy, PC-Engine, Speccy, C64, and Atari....IN MY POCKET!!
Plus we have MAME!!!!!! :D
Plus its sure sweet having a decent speed without sound emu of SNES..
Regardless of the slow speed, Its still great to be able to play chronotrigger on the go... :D
Not to mention excellent homebrew!
Smash Gp, Drunken frogger, Numo, Gianas Return, Spout, Lacuna, Electronia, Gp32 Card casino, Nazca dreams, Beats of Rage, Doom.. And much much more!
An Mp3 player..
Plus being able to have a few hours of Anime in my pocket is Simply Great...
I don't see what isnt to like about gp32_console !! :D :D

Back then when I bought the GP32, TONS of people were being tricked into thinking that the GP32 could emulate things like SNES at full speed with sound, so it was an ordinary event at the time. I didn't know that the information that I was receiving was false, like many of the people who were tricked, so I didn't really bother to go more in depth because it seemed that I was getting the same info nearly everywhere I went. From what I remember, I got this impression of the GP32 from forums and I think slashdot or some other site that made a review or something. Too long ago for me to remember.

I've seen the graphics/gameplay of many of these older consoles, I'm not interested (I don't feel like spending the time to get the emu, transfer it to my GP, look for roms (Takes so much longer for older consoles like the colecovision and the commodore 64), look for what roms might be good, download and transfer, see which ones are actually good, rinse and repeat). And I already mentioned how I was having trouble with getting Castaway to work and how I had a hard time finding the games and figuring out which ones are worthwhile. And I'm confused about other aspects about it, too. This is why I don't use Castaway, not because I've never played it before, but because of these reasons. I'm not saying that these consoles already suck because I have played them, I'm saying that I'm not interested because of things like hard time finding the actual games, hard time getting it working, lack of interest based on pictures/videos that show gameplay, amount of time trying to find the good games. I tried out Castaway because I found out that it had graphics that were up to my standards (At least NES, particularly SMB3 graphics), but there were just other problems in the way.

Most if not all you have said in your last post is all part of the fun of owning a GP32. If you want plug n play, State of the art graphics and 100% emulation of all the latest systems, Then i think (and i think you should have worked it out by now after all this time) the GP32 is not for you. Get a DS, PSP or just settle for an Xbox. It obvious the GP32 can not provide the enjoyment you want, And keeping it hoping for something to to appear in the future to hold your interest, I think is silly.

Your expectation of the GP32 and the GP32 scene are far too high, Especially for an open source system that is based on freely contributed software. To be blunt, You should put up, Or shut up. :)

This is pretty much all their is to the scene, free software. The coders already know that they are the ones actually supporting the scene and they are what create the scene. These free programs become our "commercial games" that you see on the GBA and what not. It's pretty much expected of everything in the GP32 community to be free, so I don't think this point of yours is too valid. And because of this, I think we have every right to be dissatisfied with something that's free and express how we feel about it.

This whole thread is twisting my words around! All I wanted to say is that we should really work on some of the emulators that aren't perfect yet because it seems like they could easily (Compared to how much work people are putting into things like MAME and GENESIS emulators) be made perfect (Read previous posts concerning what perfect means).

I REALLY want portable SNES emulation, but I can't afford any new handheld, which is why I'm keeping my GP, in hope that SNES emulation that is actually playable with sound for games like Zelda III is achieved, or that we go back and start working on older emulators like the NGPC emulator or GPEngine. I also use the GP for watching videos, which is another reason as to why I'm keeping it. I also plan on deving for it in the future, another reason why I want to keep it.

What I expect of the GP32 is perfect (Great compatibility, full speed with sound at FS 2 or less, depending on the system being emulated, and basic features like saves) emulation of the following:
GB/GBC
SMS/GG
PC Engine
NGPC

What I hope for is full speed SNES emulation with sound at at least FS3-4 and full speed GENESIS emulation with sound (Fully emulated, so now sounds left out and so that they play at normal speed) at FS2-3.

Well, I never was much of a SNES fan, so it doesn't matter to me that it isn't emulated well. And Genesis is emulated almost perfectly by Dr.MD.

So the only thing I think is missing are almost perfect emulators of some things that the gp32 can easily emulate (NES, GB/C,GG/SMS,etc,)...these are all not too powerful, and are emulated well, but the emulators haven't been updated in quite a while and contain some bugs which I am tired of.

NES is kind of slow, and with VSYNC on it is choppy (it really shouldn't be, I mean, we have 133mhz to work with), and GB/C runs at a inconsistant speed and is pretty dang slow for being such a simple console.

I haven't tried the GG/SMS but I have heard of it having the same issues as the Gameboy.

But, I ain't pestering people for it (from your original post, you ain't either). I am actually trying to be part of the solution, by learning the ins and outs of C and C++ on the GP32.

I am still a beginner, but I'm getting it. Maybe I'll end up fixing those nasty problems (I hope not  ).

Try some games that you haven't played before. If you only have the GP32 for emulating games that you've already played before, then you're wasting most of its potential. Have you tried Ristar, Dynamite Headdy, Gunstar Heroes, Phantasy Star 4 or Panorama Cotton (the latter has a lot of graphical glitches, but it's really amazing & still playable)?

I bought the GP32 a long time ago being tricked that it could emulate SNES full speed with sound, along with many other people. I soon discovered that it couldn't do this. Except for SNES & NGPC, it pretty much IS the case (I don't understand what you say about DrMD; as I said, it emulates most games almost perfectly. Apparently this doesn't include the few that you've tried.

I don't care what you say, graphics are still an important aspect, and if it doesn't have at least NES graphics, then it better have amazing gameplay/music. Of course gameplay is what makes a game, but that doesn't mean that graphics can't make it worse.

OK, I have to agree with you there. Graphics ARE important; they're as much a part of the game as music. However, for me what matters most isn't how processor-intensive the graphics are, but how good they actually LOOK (how well they're drawn). Personally, I was brought up on x86 (DOS), so that's the "minimum" level for me graphics-wise (I wouldn't consider 320x240 resolution & 16 colours bad graphics ;) ).
However, there are lots of exceptions, for example I'm finding Kirby on the NES very fun, and sometimes I like to try a REALLY old pixelated game just for the novelty of it. :p

I'll say it again: you could always use GPvsGB for GB/GBC and SMS32 for SMS/GG.

They're both very good emulators. You can download them from gp32x.de

P.S. Just for the record, I was expecting full-speed lynx emulation at first (I thought it was an easy system to emulate ;) ). It's getting really close now though, so I think eventually a full-speed Lynx emu WILL be available.

Yay Marketing :) Personally the reason I got a GP32 is because people were fiddling with them, but yea awhile ago these forums were full of people complaining about those claims.

Okay i can understand Azure by your age you dont really know anything about these older systems and to you they might look 'simple and poor' yet to us we're amazed by them as we grew up with many of those systems.

BUT i never had an Atari VCS which was very very simple graphics or an Atari 800 or several other machines before my time. I still like trying many of those, thats part of the fun with emulators, trying machines you never tried before and finding some classics on them.

I'm not saying every Speccy or Colecovision or MSX game is brilliant but you can find some very good games for it

Of course graphics and sound are important but gameplay is the #1 thing. I mean look at all the overpriced console games out at the moment, some are very good but many of them dont have great gameplay and might have whizzy graphics and sound but the bottom line is you need great gameplay. I mean you could say practically all games which can be emulated for the GP32 are rubbish compared to todays games because the graphics and sound are so poor but if thats the case why are the majority of us here using emulators for older games and even people on the PSX2 and XBox use emulators to play the games of yesteryear.

I still find it baffling that you havent even tried the other systems. Castaway isnt difficult to use at all, the readme surprisingly tells you everything you need and the games for that are very good. I mean you say you cant find games for that, i find that pretty astonishing.

I had a Spectrum when i was younger, never touched a C64, never had a NES either so to try emulators for these systems and find a fair few games i love has been great.

But i think the main thing which has bothered people apart from slating systems you havent even tried is your moan about emulators. At the end of the day theyre free, many of them arent 100% complete with amazing sound and no save game bugs but the majority of people dont mind. Like i say when its free i dont think we can moan that much. Theyre all very good (thats one major reason why the GP32 community is still going well) because of people creating emulators.

Youre calling me a dumbass as you say you arent talking about perfection but your the one moaning and disillusioned with the GP32 world. How do you think some creators of emulators feel after reading your whiney posts ? At the end of the day if you arent happy move on and get a different machine. How are 'whines' going to work or make developers make better emus ? You really do sound like a 15 year old.

Graphics and sound add to a game but gameplay is #1. Most games on MAME have crappy graphics and sound compared to todays Xbox/Playstation II games but we're all playing them as we love them because of memories (yes granted you dont have these first time round with these games) but also because of the gameplay. Thats why we play these old games, thats why retro games are popular. Thats why theres now retro mags out there, Sega/Nintendo releasing old retro classics as theyre so playable not because they have outdated graphics or sound. Graphics seem to be way way too important for you because of some strange psychological problem you have.

Imagine in 10 years time you have all the kids playing PSX2 games on their GP32 Mk IV and theyre moaning how crappy the SNES/NES games are. I can understand they might not like them but to not even try them and then slate them is funny.

You seem to be slating every single old retro platform out there which the majority of us here love (Eg C64, Spectrum, Atari) and you havent even really tried them. Thats one major reason why people are fed up.

You refer to me as being 'stupid' and a 'dumbass' but you were the one conned into getting a GP32 because of 'perfect' SNES emulation. Duh didnt you know you could have looked on the net and checked a fair few GP32 sites out and asked people before you bought one ? Whats laughable as well is that you bought a GP32 and seem to hate any older retro systems than the NES/SNES. Doesnt make sense.

Go sell your GP32, you can get a cheap Pocket PC and if you buy one at 400mhz you can play SNES emulation perfectly. Well probably not up to your standards but its very good never the less.

And please explain your signature, cant work that out at all.

I wouldnt say tons of people were tricked into it. I looked at a couple of GP32 sites and asked some questions before i got one, i realised that SNES didnt run full speed but most other things seemed to and because of the far better controls on a GP32 rather than a Pocket PC which i was using before i made the switch. As i said before you might want to check out a Pocket PC, i could run SNES perfectly on that as a whole and most GBA games such as Mario Kart Advanced even worked.

Anyway i'm very surprised that even though you did actually do some 'research' you seemed to think it would play perfect SNES. You were either on the wrong board or didnt ask the right questions.

I mean fair enough you dont want to take the time to try new emulators or games or find good games. BUT i must admit i'm very surprised at that

To me personally (dont know about the others) one of the best things about emulation as i said before is to try new systems and new games for free basically. Its great when you find an excellent game on a particular system you knew nothing about. Even now despite 20 years playing Spectrum games i can still find an old classic i knew nothing about. I love the Bombjack style games, finding Mighty Bombjack on the NES was brilliant.

As for putting emulators onto a GP32 and finding roms etc and transferring them that doesnt take long. Granted it takes a while checking out games but like i say thats part of the fun of it. Just recently with MAME coming out i had 700 games to go through and find out what ones were classics which i wanted to keep on my GP32, gonna take some time but when i have some free time its a good laugh going through finding the good ones from the poor.

Like i say i DO realise that with each generation particular emulators will interest you more. I was bought up on Speccy/GB/Genesis so yes i might favour those more but like i say because of emulation you can try new systems. And the main thing is which you keep saying is how can you not be bothered or not be interested in a particular system (lines such as "i have no interest in....") when you havent tried it at all !!!

How does it take much longer to find roms for Colecovision than it does the SNES though ? If anything its quicker as the game files are so small it wont take as long to download ! As for Castaway how come many many other people can get it to work and love it ?

We could argue forever but what i do find very funny is that you bought a GP32 and you seem to hate all emulators apart from the SNES !

Like i say its amazing that you seem to rate games by graphics alone. If that was the case and everyone thought that the retro scene would be dead and we would all be playing PSX2 games.

people don't, and sounds like Azure, must just think that emulators are so easy to write up. Things are not taken into account, like chip sets and stuff. The Lynx, on the outside doesn't seem like anything special, but it actually had quite complicated chip sets and has been hard to emulate even on a PC. The SNES is the same way. Megadrive is not as complicated as SNES, but the SNES had a few extra chips in it that helped it out, like the FX chip which will probably never be emulated on the GP32.

If you think it's so easy to make perfect emulation of all these systems without know the specs and things of the system your trying to emulate, then why don't you write one yourself??? hmmm

I don't think people were tricked. I researched my GP32 at about the same time you became a member here and a couple months later, i bought mine. At the time I knew Snes9x wasn't that good, MegaDrive was non existant pretty much, but jesus christ, look how far this thing has come. Maybe this isn't for you, maybe you need to sell your GP32 and get a pocketPC or something else that can run all this stuff on a portable, oh wait, they're really isn't. Stop complaining and be greatful for what we have.

Like i say his best bet i think would be a Pocket PC, one of the ones with a PXA255 chip or more as they'll then run SNES very well and many GBA games.

I'm still puzzled as to why he refuses to try earlier systems. Its like only liking chinese food and refusing to eat anything else. You dont know if you really do or dont like something unless you try a variety of something new.

SNES games are very good but i tend to find because of emulation i often play each game 5 minutes at a time instead of the old days when you waited for 5 minutes to load a game by tape and then played it for 3 hours.

Because i often try many games briefly i've found many good 'quick' type of games such as Bombjack. Bombjack isnt on the SNES and if he refuses to try any other emulators hes missing out on a classic game

To some extent it can be quite easy to get a GP32 with too high expectations - simply because people tend to put a positive spin on things.

I got mine primarily for Spectrum and Gameboy emus, having done quite a bit of research beforehand. Even then, I've got to admit that I was a little disapointed by fGB32 because of it's varying framerate. From what I had read Gameboy emulation was pretty much perfect, hence some disapointment.

I can see where Azure's coming from and I don't think arguing with him is going to help. Most people seem pretty happy with their GP32 (me included) and look forward to the new things in development. Maybe the future will bring a perfect SNES emu and Azure will be happy too.
