I am a banana!
Some might see this drastic but after a certain music thread was removed my point has been further proven that people are abusing the forums for the sake of virtual internet "Post" points.
Some of the abusers may:
a ) Feel satisfied with themselves for fulfilling their post count targets
b ) May feel encouraged to continue behave the same way and post more annoying / irrelevant posts but spanning outside of Off-Topic.
c ) Expect moderators to move their spammy posts out instead of deleting / hiding them
This leads me to think that maybe we should begin to think about turning off post count all together as in many ways this would be beneficial for the community as such:
1) The forum will look less like a spam fest that it has been (and seriously, it's spiralling out of control)
2) We could expect new developers to join if we were seen to be a little more professional rather than a bunch of 12 year olds. Yes this is a little harsh but it's how some people act.
3) Threads will eventually start ending up on-topic as there's no need for those spammy people to post their spam inside non spammy threads.
4) There may be less disagreement amongst people
5) Moderators will not need to work so hard to split threads that have spiralled out of control due to an off-topic chain of discussion.
I have seen this in action at other forums but mostly disabling post count in Off-Topic which is very effective.
So my question is and infact this is tl;dr can we disable post counts for the aformention reasons?
