I went and bought one of these.

The screen is okay if a little flickery, but for £30 it's not so bad :p

I wondered what was inside so I opened it up ... four slabs of black logic™...

Let me get this straight.
A chip with JPEG & MP3 decoding;
Ethernet, USB, CF/SD/MMC controller;
A NES emulator. With joystick input

Just a pity that for £30 you get a crippled device that 'only' shows jpegs ;)
Ah well. Guess it'll make a reasonable birthday present :D
