i have been a nosy bastard, just about whole my life. and now i directed my attention to the mmsp2 chipdesign.
So first i started with reading the whole section of http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/Category:Hardware_Hacking

i then came to the conclusion that
1. they must have used a dedicated chip for 2d inside the mmsp2
2. it seems improbable that they developed that chip from scratch. More likely is that they used someone elses chip.
3. the mmsp2 was designed to work with winCE so they most likely used a design targeted at ddraw api.

i then began to think that they integrated the vrender0 chip for 2d media purposes.
Then came the interesting part what chips does the vrender0 contain ?
So then i consulted the Magiceyes website for more leads
http://www.mesdigital.com/english/support/...03.asp?sel=3#01 and they state that the processor is a 32bit Eisc produced by "Advanced Digital Chips" that narrowed the bill very much. i the scanned the candidates (or it was more like only one candidate http://www.mesdigital.com/support/downfile...sheet_v1.31.pdf ). the Amazon SE3208.

i feel confident that this is the "right" chip and that it is indeed used in the gp2x. if anyone have there own findings/opinions of the closed side of the mmsp2 please share in this thread
