I've been using desktop compositing for years on my linux pcs and was surprised to find that the graphics hardware on the pandora can handle it too. I prefer this option as it allows for some nice drop shadows and gets rid of that annoying slow redraw when you close windows.

What I want to know is if anyone uses this option and has noticed any major issues with it that mean I shouldn't just keep it enabled? ie. instability, battery life, incompatibility with any software.

I haven't heard anyone complaining of major issues. There is a guide here.

IIRC, there was one post on the old forums where someone said that they needed to disable it to do graphics editing or something.
