That would be nice, especially if one could open out private rooms, to discuss specific problems and maybe collaborate.

For example, I have said for a long time it would be nice if there was collaboration and consensus on various controls for emu's...for example, a uniform key combination to retreat back to a menu where you can quit from...or even just plain quit the emu (I personally like Function +Q best because the chances you'd accidentally press this while gaming is pretty remote.)

What's wrong with the ircchat?

I like it.

It would be enough to have a directlink to the webchat on the forun imho.

Eh .. this is never going to happen. Or at least it would not be the preferred/official way.

I think 90% of the people in the chatroom use an irc-client to connect.

Also the chat is on the freenode-server, which is where a lot of support-channels for opensource projects reside.

Doing it through the forum is cute and all, but it's not going to benefit most of the people that go to the chatroom regularly.

IRC is old hat! IP.chat is AJAX WEB.2.0 BLEEDING EDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, why bother?

Don't fix what ain't broke.

A flashy, web-based irc client (as part of openpandora.org) would be ok, but forcing people to use an overcomplex web page to send text strings is daft.

The variety of irc clients is good too.

Or bring the Forums to the Old Hat..
