Now, I know the game ran with 8mb of memory, and the GP32 could possibly render the game as it was, with optimizations, however the one thing I'm not sure about, is if the source code of the first game has been released or not.

Does anyone know?

I'm only curious of your opinions about this whole thing, even if there's no source code.

I doubt that the GP32 could run a 3D game of this complexity at a useable framerate. Dunno about the source code though.

I'm pretty sure it would require an FPU, the physics code was quite complex in its time. Hell, even compared to a lot of todays games.

carmageddon 1 would be awsome, and don't overestimate it, aside from the car, and the maps, everything(including pedestrians) are bitmaps....
so someone with good programming skills might be able to get close to the real thing, i saw someone wok on a 3d raceengine, it might be able to be converted in to a carmageddon liek game :)

As was said earlier, Carmageddon has a lot of physics code. In fact, I seem to remember people complaining it wouldn't run well on their P133 unless they patched it and used a 3dfx card.

And Carmageddon without the crazy physics wouldn't be Carmageddon to me. ;) I guess a similar kind of game with a different name would be all right though.

hmm, indeed the carphysics would be hard to implement...

I got The Original (18) version with real people and Red blood for £5 (Re)play there where loads of optimisation options and I remember playing it quite nicely on my old P75 laptop :D

with everthing set to low it could be run in wire frame mode or flat shaded or something I cant remember its been along time

It would be nice but I dont think its going to happen on the Gp32

A Little useless info?...

A quick search I found that carmagedon uses the BRender 3d engine that will apparently run on a 386 then searching for Brender I found this..

"Argonaut claims the system can render 65,000 polygons per second at a resolution of 320x200 on a 66mhz 486"

Mmmmmmh... Caramgeddon. The first game rules, I still play it (when I can get it to run <_< )... And it was great in multiplayer! Would love to see it on the GP32, but it probably wouldn’t run very well.... But I suppose we could just wait till we get a GP64 ;)

Unless someone wants to port the GB version of Carmageddon? Never played it, but it was a 2D game, viewed from overhead. It seemed to have very little to do with the PC version

Now that was a piece of pure shite. ;) Trust me, the further we get away from that the better.
