I've just uploaded the latest version of Bob the Amazing Lemon to gp32.sector808.org. This version fixes a couple of bugs with the 15 day compo version, and the levels are now in a nice order instead of completely random.

I've also released a very early version of Lazy Reader, an auto scrolling text viewer. It's full of bugs and looks like crap, but it's good enough to use (most of the time). The usual text viewer features (fonts, colours, position saving) will be coming soon.

Good luck with the text viewer ! (and thanks for adding word wrap !!)

Will it also be possible to turn the pages at the press of a button as well ?

You can turn pages with the left and right buttons, but it's not perfect yet (sometimes you get a line or a few words missing).

There should be a new version later today that will save your position in the file when you return to the file selector (just trying to get rid of a few bugs at the moment).

Hey,

Here's a feature that nobody adds, but it sure is great! Add a no-wrap feature! That sounds stupid, but I mean, you can scroll left and right too. That would be good for checking out code and stuff on gp32. Like, you don't want word-wrap while looking at C code, as it will screw up the tabbing so it could be confusing, and definitely will be ugly. I started a text viewer a long time ago, and started adding this to it, so if you need some code, it's available in the source archive at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gp32dev/file...code/gp32utils/ as textview.

Yeah, so...add that and make your program even better :D

Thanx

ey woogal, your my idol. jk. =)

gr8 work with bob, I enjoy playing it .... in the boiling sun, width a glass of lemode,.. and ..... eeh... well anyway:

Do you have a date for the lvl editor?

Huja!

It's getting difficult to find the time to start it at the moment :(

It shouldn't take too long to get an early useable version working though, so there may be something available in a couple of weeks time.

Heh :)

My plan for Bob has always been to make him into some kind of computer game 'star' like Horace on the speccy or Cuthbert on the Dragon32 (don't know who the c64 star was), where the games are always completly different and the character (even if it's just the name) is forced into the game for the hell of it :)

He's already stared in 'Bob the Amazing Astronaut' (thrust clone) and 'Bob's Crazy Stunts' (Dare Devil Dennis clone) on the Amiga, but unfortunatly they've both vanished (written long before I had net access and were only distributed from a local computer shop's pd library).

You did a DareDevil Dennis clone?

Any chances of a port (along with Sopwith, its one of my favourite games. At least, arcade-wise). Or a remake, of course, if you did it in AMOS or something...

Amos?!? AMOS?!?

Amos was the spawn of Satan, sent to Earth to corrupt young coders ;)

Most of my Amiga coding was done using the excellent GFA Basic (the best basic on the planet until Blitz came along), but unfortunatly a lot of my old code has gone (corrupt or lost disks) :(

It would probably be better if I did a complete rewrite of Bobs Crazy Stunts anyway (as I did with Bob the Amazing Lemon) 'cos even if I had the code it wouldn't be particually good (I have the old BtAL code - it's a mess).

Heheheh, ok, not AMOS then lol

Still would be somethig I can imagine playing quite a bit. BTAL is keeping me fairly busy atm though. IMHO its probably the best pacman game I've played... but usually I just don't like Pacman, so why that is, I don't know. Somehow fits better than many...

It's funny you should say that, because I never really liked pacman either :) I'm please you're enjoying BTAL though (often I find it's just me that enjoys the things I've written :) )

Does anyone have any suggestions for other block or bonus types that you'd like to see added?

Only thing bonus-block wise might be different colours of bonuses. It can be annoying to go after the bonus hoping desperately to get a ghost-stopper one and get an extra life instead. Although technically that one ought not to matter :)

Perhaps some weaponry like mines (turn it from Bob the amazing lemon to Bob the amazing bomberlemon with a minor-ish change of engine)? Perhaps some an ability to lay "safe" ground behind bob for a few seconds.

But there's quite a lot of power-ups already :)

Oh - psychadelic might be interesting. As in start random palette cycling for a few moments. It might not be very useful, but could be fun. Ish.
