if anyone has got a BOB could they let us know if USB keyboard support is working in Beebem2x?

thanks,
rooster
Just tried it but no it doesn't - or at least it doesn't on mine.

Ditto.

I double-checked by using sterm and the 2X menu, those work fine.

Aaaagh! I need to get on with mass-producing the USB host cables at a cheap price. See my sig for a quick tut on how to DIY the USB host :D.

I wonder if we can start a "USB for Devs" campaign, donate and then get a USB cable shipped to them so they can test it.

thanks for the feedback guys

nubie, you do need to start producing USB host cables!! this thread was started cos I asked Fru T Bunn if it was possible to run Beebem2x with one of those laser projection keyboards on the 2x. It would be so much better with a simple cable rather than via a chunky BOB.

What games are currentely supporting usb mouse/keyboard?

ScummVM supports USB mouse (and has done for ages). It should support a keyboard for the AGI engine but I never got around to testing it ;).

I wouldn't think a lot of new games have keyboard support, as the buttons are read directly from /dev/GPIO or via the SDL joystick interface, not the keyboard.

When I use SDL, I do generally leave keyboard code in so I can test on the PC but many people conditionally compile this out for the GP2X.

With some ports you might get lucky if joystick support has been added but keyboard support hasn't been removed.

I do it the same way in BeebEm too and the (SDL) keyboard code is still active, but I don't think Paeryn's SDL supports keyboards yet.

Annoyingly my GP2X has gone back for repair, so I can't mess about with it at the moment. :(

Edit = Didn't make much sense...
