Not sure if anyone has played with this software before, but I stumbled across it the other day and thought I would give it ago, hours later I came up with the following:

Turntable2.jpg

This was the first thing I modeled, a basic turntable.

CandleHolder2.jpg

Second we have one of the candle holders I have on my mantle.

LavaLamp2.jpg

Here's a nice little Lava Lamp :).

Lamp2.jpg

This is a lamp I have by my TV, it only took 15 mins to model too!

Dalek2.jpg

And here we have something that took about 2 hours. It has mistakes but I still think it's quite impressive. I made the walls reflective, you can see the Dalek's reflection behind it!

I've been looking for an easy 3D program for a while. Blenders great, but a little overkill for starting out with.
Cheers..
It's a very easy package to get into, plus there's some excellent tutorials as well.

Thanks for the heads-up on this Fluffy, I was looking for a simple 3D software to start with myself :)

How to make stuff with it, lol. I mean, I sorta get the points thing, but it's all very confusing, I aimed for a cup to start off with, and all I can get is a mass of squiggles, granted they are 3d squiggles...

Download and work your way through the hourglass tutorial, that will really get you started :)

Addition:
Just to get you started, here's how to make a simple cup/bowl.

Draw a one half of the shape head on as illustrated bellow:
1.jpg

Make sure you leave the end points open.

Then use the lathe tool, this rotates that line around the axis making the whole cup/bowl shape like so:
2.jpg

The lathe tool spins the lines round at the end points, this is why you left them open.

And here's a very quick completed object:
Bowl2.jpg

There's not much detail, and I could have played with the textures and lighting to make it more realistic, but you should get the picture :)

I've just finished the hourglass tutorial - very intuitive software, certainly nowhere near as difficult to use as Blender, and just as free. I'd been meaning try modelling, but massive learning curves have always deterred my endeavours. Thanks Warmfluffy :)

I still don't get the textures, but I need to spend some serious time actually reading the tutorial.

However, I do have a rather sexy bowl...

Also, how did you get straight corners? Mine round themselves off by default...

To get straight corners, hold down SHIFT while clicking!
This software uses SHIFT, CTRL and ALT a lot. i.e. in the views holding ALT will alter the perspective while dragging.
Using SHIFT and CTRL together combines their actions.

Glad you got a sexy bowl :). Have you tried adding light sources and changing the light colours? you get really amazing results!
