OK Here's what's going to happen...

Nobody's going to be able to get hold of the factory today, leaving us with another 7 days or so of speculating as to whether the factory simply just didn't ship, or did ship but didn't provide us with any details.

In 7 days time all but the most hardcore optimists will have conceded that the cases haven't shipped (the few optimists left believing that there may have just been a delay in transit).

In 14 days time CNY will be over, but the factory will be busy appeasing more important customers whom they also failed to create cases for before CNY.

In 28-42 days the cases will finally be produced.

In 35-49 days the case will arrive at their destination and we can wait for the next thing to go wrong.

I'd love to be proved wrong.

It's 5:40pm in China right now. Not having heard from them doesn't mean anything just yet, but if we don't hear anything within a few hours I'd better start planning two weeks worth of blog content... :p

We're probably looking at beyond CNY before even the first customer sees their unit.
"Probably"?

You're saying that "probably" customers won't have their Pandora's tomorrow?

Sarcasm? on the boards? I am utterly, utterly shocked...

But yes that is exactly what I am saying, and I stand by it with a vengeance! Now, stop picking on me, or I'll tell the headmaster.

That's a bold stance, sir. (Or madam.)

I've dealt with these companies before... hell, I'm dealing with one now.

To get an update, I have to call three consecutive days in a row, leaving messages each time. Then I have to call my sales representative who then calls the VP of the company, then the technician I was trying to get a hold of calls me back. A simple bugfix that should only take a couple of hours has now taken 3 weeks.

To MWeston, CraigX, and Fatih in reference to this company,

Ride them.... ride them HARD and don't let up or nothing will get done.

Before we have confrimation that the factory actually produced and shipped something I can't help being quite caution. I guess that if the team don't get an update on the situation beofore the factory closes for CNY it will be conspiration hell again here.

Also I appeciated EvilDragon blog post. It looks like the team have gotten some weight off their shoulder and we are indeed nearing the finish line. Still there is a lot to do. Seeing how the Chinese factory has taken ages to "fix" the case for rev.3 I wouldn't be surprised it the final production will take a lot more time that originaly planned.

There is absolutley nothing constructive in what you are saying, this is bordering on trolling.

How about you just wait (like the rest of us) and see what materialises over the weekend before you intentionally start trolling the boards.

Trolling accusations aside, what Pleng says (or anyone, for that matter, except for the OP team) has no bearing or impact on the project. There's no such thing as "jinxing" - what happens is in the hands of whoever is doing it. It's not like the mould company is going delay 7 weeks because of what Pleng says.

However, my expectations are pretty much as Pleng puts them. If it happens sooner, I'll be happy. If I expect a Pandora on my doorstep at CNY+1 day, then I'm setting myself up for another disappointment.

You either have patience or you do not. There is no in-between. And true patience has no limits.

Trolling? Nothing constructive? I've set a reasonable timeframe for people to set their expectations to. Something the OP has never done. For once there are even other members of the forum actually vocally agreeing with my predictions. I wonder how many are silently nodding their heads.

Or do you feel it's constructive, as is the case now, for hundreds of people to assume that cases are going to be shipped today? So we can have a big old backlash when it doesn't happen.

First rule of customer service: Set a realistic expectation and enjoy the smiles on the customers faces if you exceed it.

How about you just wait (like the rest of us) and see what materialises over the weekend before you intentionally start trolling the boards.

Yes, waiting is exactly what the rest of us are doing. Nobody's been making posts asking what date the first pandoras would arrive assuming that the cases are shipped today, have they? Isn't it funny how positive speculation is fully encouraged, whilst a fully realistic perception is branded as trolling.

I agree with pleng "In 35-49 days the case will arrive at their destination" that seems about right IMO 35 days including the 2 week holiday.

However the added bit at the end "and we can wait for the next thing to go wrong" was definatly not constructive

I was, and thought the "trolling" accusation was out of order, personally. A little realism, with perhaps a cheeky grin thrown in, is a long way from trolling IMHO... and even if your guestimate is out, it's hard to see how you can be any more wrong than OpenPandora have been, yet they are allowed their visions of how delivery will go.

Yea, funny isn't it.

As far as a cheeky grin goes, I couldn't put one in as I truly believe it to be a realistic time frame. A little smiley face would insinuate that I thought my comment was a joke.

I do not.

It's 7.48pm here in UK btw.

@Pleng

Hell, your time frame is as good as anyone else on this forum, including the teams! Until anyone here receives a complete and functional unit, it is anyones guess, if and when these will ship. Could be 2 weeks, or 2 months, or hell, even 2 years! There is nothing here to prove otherwise!

There are many waiting for any kind of update, WHY? Because everyone wants there Pandora! At this point, there is no reason not to say something. As much as I support the team, and the project. Communication is often lack luster at best.

You have heard from the factory or not. They have shipped or not. The update doesn't need to be huge, just a current status.
