Anxiously Awaiting The Chinese New Year

I agree with pleng "In 35-49 days the case will arrive at their destination" that seems about right IMO 35 days including the 2 week holiday.

However the added bit at the end "and we can wait for the next thing to go wrong" was definatly not constructive

I have a problem with 35-49 days... It's not quite 2 months... the "next thing to go wrong" might add the extra days. I think he gave a fair estimation!

I think Pleng has it right : \

+1 ... I'm under 500 in the queue and still will be very surprised if I see my Pandora before April. Just seems to be how it goes.

I once had a 3way with twins, god damn I felt like THE MAN!

On Topic, your estimation SUCKS, but I can see it's realism. Personally I prefer craig's way of optimistic patience, hoping to get mine really soon, but being patient and understanding if I don't, but had I been waiting as long as some of the first 500, I don't think I would be quite as optimistic. I've been waiting since december 09 and even that feels like forever.

Regardless of what anybody else has to say, Pleng's post was mischief making at the very least and trolling at worst.

These guys have their livelyhoods on the line and we are currently sitting within the most positive situation we have been in for the last year. I'm all for constructive discussion, but making sarcastic, condescending posts is unecessary. It's been done time and time again for the last year, and surely now is the time for a little positivity.

There is no way that the factory is going to get these all out today, but bleating on about the same subject creates negativity at a time when we should be in a better frame of mind.

I'm curious, It's been 2 years, and several positive post(to many to list). Many disapointments, at what point would you say it is ok to give realistic estimations based on the last 2 years.

Not looking to fight, just wondering!

And now we know why I (and possibly others) were just silently nodding our heads. Because a realistic estimation is only a realistic estimation until someone makes an argument out of it. THEN it starts becoming a point of contention. How much attention would Pleng's post have got, and how much negativity would have ensued, if it was left unanswered instead of barely veiled (if that) accusations of trollery?

I don't have the vocabulary to continue this post without it seeming too confrontational for my tastes - I just don't want to go there. Peace :)

Sorry x68000, but Monk is right ;)
I think we are through with discussing Pleng's post, imo.

I agree it's not helpful to speculate in such a negative light. But saying that if those in the know have a concrete yes or no it would be nice just to get it over and done with. We've dealt well with good and bad news and one more bit of either when we have seen physical evidence of a real physical pandora is ok.

Honestly earns respect and that respect unless earned can be quite fragile.

As far as I am concerned, let's just agree to disagree on this. I'm an optimist at heart and feel certain 'styles' of posting could be misconstrued as trolling which has no place in our community. Many forum members have taken the high ground on similar posts to Plengs recently, only with less established forum members.

As far as moving on, I totally agree on that point

Nothing to see here, move along B)

I preordered in the first few hours. I made a lot of "hurr hurrr 2 months lol" posts about a year ago because it was obvious that the Pandora was still a ways away, but even back in March last year I said to myself, "I want a pandora before I graduate, if any completed units ship by this time next year I'll wait." A lot of people had cutoff dates (some were last Christmas.) And people keep coming and saying it's old tech and it's not worth the money anymore, which is completely ludicrous. I could see Pleng's negativity a while back when everything was going wrong, but now, even if production does slip to past CNY (which I am not saying is not possible) you don't have to keep bringing it up in virtually every post and just shooting down anyone who is optimistic. Which is what Pleng's been doing for a while now. I understand if his feelings are hurt that this is taking forever, mine are too. But x86000 is right, it doesn't help us to have him spamming this crap everywhere. Anyone who's keeping up with the boards enough to catch one of these posts that just ends up blackholed on a previous page after 30 minutes knows enough about the project to come up with a realistic timeline themselves. But we don't have to incessantly bring up this negative stuff. Whether it's 20 days or 100 days until Pandora comes out, most of it is out of OP's hands now (other than them bugging people more) and it really helps the attitude if people are positive.

Simple psychology: Make a joking comment and the situation is clean(crystal ball). Fire back and you provoke an endless discussion. This works always and everywhere. If it doesn't work, Plan B ;)

I have pretty much the same "attitude" as Pleng towards this. Been disappointed too many times, it's quite natural and sympathetic to form a buffer for it. The negative tone in his post should be able to get to you only if you were completely new to the board, the rest of us can put it in perspective. Negative or not, sincerity should suffice. Let's not get all fragile and start censoring "offensive" material just because we find someone doesn't share our high. Time will be a teacher and a unifier, and patience is what we should have come to know. :p

hope for the best, prepare for the worst?

anyways, pleng's already partially been proven wrong, as the ed has already said the cases probably won't ship before CNY. even if it is a bit negative, it's entirely plausible.

and oh yes, i'm going to get me some moon cake during CNY and party before waiting for the cases again.

as i said in another topic there were nowway they finish before the CNY. and i'll explain why:
as so 5 CNY and can tell you that the week before CNY here it is a rush to find a train ticket.
and during CNY chineses go back to theire homeland to celebrate. the point is what do you think they are thinking
just somedays before CNY? simple: HOW TO GO HOME? FIND A TICKET.... so they said "we will do our best to finish the case" but thinking about something else.
but i knew if not finish a week before CNY so we should wait after that.
NOw i think you know what happened here and why those you was wrong when hoping they finish before today. btw today is day of so that tomorow. (13th(last day of the year) and 14th(first day))
all company are off until 19th(included) and back to work on saturday 20th. so if the company that working for pandora respect the rule, you should wait until next saturday before asking question about case.
but maybe i am wrong and they will back to work monday :) (i hope so but i doubt)

whatever. back to the topic i am sure I'll get my Pandora before may. i think about April but with Chinese we should be cautious.
