Having tried to learn more about the Evo console, it seems that while the wiki has no info to back it up they claim about 3000 were sold. It appears that maybe it actually had some decent games on it, as there are a couple of Youtube comparisons to some games on it vs. other systems like the Wii and another machine I don't remember. There were articles that bashed it as an overpriced way of using the term "open" to bilk people into paying too much money for what was essentially a much lower cost linux PC stuffed into a DVD player case.
Overall, I was intrigued by the idea, and wish the company itself had left up some documentation on the device. It may not have been perfect, but what little I did fine seemed to be creative (games on SD card allowing anyone to price and sell a game, some titles I never knew were available for Linux etc.)
Let's be honest, even our beloved hand held, is not without it's detractors and faults can be found. But for those of us in it's target demographic, it's the best thing since canned bread (which according to the Spongebob episode my son just watched is the greatest thing since sliced)
The troubling part is that about a year and a half after it's launch, it's been entirely erased. You would think they would be proud of the achievement and keep up some info and or support pages about it. NADA. Not even mentioned in their company info as Craig posted earlier.
Now on to the next one. Then what? A year, maybe a year and a half later. Nothing? There is just too many points of warning to this whole scenario. I think they need to sit down and revamp their whole scheme. Else it just appears like one.
