Not just 16, that's just what ours is theoretically capable of. There are some that can sense variance over a thousand different levels (used in some high quality art tablets, if I recall correctly), and some that are just hard/soft, and a few that weren't wired up to give that kind of detail so even though the screen itself may be capable no software can read it.Willrandship said:But resistive does have an advantage. You could theoretically just replace the touchscreen, as it's an overlay over the display. I've used multitouch quite extensively in my music-world experience, and I have to say that it does make a difference for music-making, quite so. One thing though, after a few hours of multi-touch work (on the Lemur, or on a Performancer table), ones finger tips do get rubbed a bit raw ..
I hope we see an upgrade for multitouch on the Pandora in the future - could it be possible that there are LCD's that can be a drop-in replacement for multitouch? Possible, I would imagine ..
