Hello

Can I still use my 1gb SD card even if it is not formatted to FAT32?

The reason I ask is that I have Windows 98 and I’m not sure how to format the card.

If I have to format to FAT32 any advice would be appreciated.

Double-click 'My Computer', right-click 'Removable Disk' then click 'Format...'

Then you can format it to whatever FAT you want
Indeed, only issue in using FAT is if the SD card is greater than 1Gb, as it won't recognise anything above this (is the limit on FAT 1Gb or 2Gb, I can't remember now)?

doesn't seem to give me the option for FAT / FAT32????

That same thing happened to me, so what I did was ..use a card reader and quick formated it (as i was using the gp2x as a card reader at that time)

FAT16 is for anything up to 1gb and FAT32 is for idk the real limit but 1gb+.

I would not update my gp2x on FAT16 though but if you just want to run apps off it FAT16 works fine. Use FAT32 for updating the firmware.

I updated from firmware 1.21 > 1.4 > 2.00 with FAT (FAT16) without issues.

Still not sure what im doing!! When using the format option in windows 98 there doesn't seem to be an option to format to FAT32. Have tried using system tools, FAT converter but it doesn't work. Now the PC doesn't recognise my SD card at all. Have I killed it?
