Hi there everyone, so anyways I was going to buy a openpandora off of ebay. but I have a few questions.
1. Can you run android apps on it (eg. Steam Link, Moonlight, Kainey)?
2. does it have a port of wine (the translation layer for windows applications)?
3. Does the openpandora run PSP (PPSSPP) at full speed?

that's all I have for questions for now. I'll post some later when I have time.

thanks and have a great day! =)

1. There were a few attempts at running Android app, but they're old. Plus the Pandora has a 32bit arch and most Android apps are meant for 64bits. But there's a port of Moonlight

2. It doesn't have a port of wine, but you can run wine with box86. It requires some manual setup and some fiddling to get stuff running.

3. Not for all games. There's a compatibility list here: https://pandorawiki.org/PPSSPP_Compatibility_List

Wine has been ported before, it's not entirely straight forward and requires custom compiling.... But you have to understand WINE=Wine is Not and Emulator meaning it does Windows translation, but in the case of the Pandora port it's for software compiled for the ARM platform, WINE is used on some of the Blizzard ports done for the system, Starcraft, Diablo and Diablo 2... these have been ported to the ARM platform, but still needs WINE to handle the Windows things... As stated previously box86+WINE has been used to some extent to get X86 programs to work, but it's a bit of work to get anything working with it..

The port of moonlight I have had it work in the past, but the Wifi is fairly slow on the Pandora, so it doesn't make that great streaming experience, I've used USB Wifi dongle to get a bit more speed, but it chews through battery life. I'm not sure the port even works on modern clients...

The Pandora is a great handheld for various things, but you have to understand it's developed was started in 2008 with a release date of 2010 or so... It doesn't make a great web browser, the OS is dated making modern ports a bit more of a chore and being 32bit a tad bit harder too in some cased... There is a bit of quirks with the hardware too, the USB port is USB 2.0 only, meaning if you plug in something like a keyboard that is USB 1.1 it won't work, so you need to use a USB 2.0 hub essentially translate the USB 1.1 device to USB 2.0... It does retro gaming fairly well and has a decent software library thanks to many people here porting things to it. so It may be worth it if it still interests you....

In the past there was some commercial application for this if I remember correctly, an X86+Wine mix to run Windows apps on ARM. But I guess that wasn't a thing anymore after that announcement.

yeah that was Exagear, it was a commercial product before Ptitseb made box86, it was a good attempt before the guy folded the project...I could get the 32-bit version of steam "running" with wine, but wasn't really playable with any games.had slightly better luck with getting the Linux version of Unreal Tournament working with it.

You got the '99 version of Unreal Tournament running on the Pandora?
Was it playable?

In the box86 thread, Ingoreis posted a video of it running with box86+wine.
It wasn't that smooth but apparently he was running the Windows D3D version and performances could be better with Linux version + OpenGL

Remember audio being a problem, but somewhat playable outside the controls were not really tuned for it... I wish I still had the setup on my Pandora, but my exagear setup was on an SD card that ended up getting corrupted..
