It being USB2 shouldn't be a problem - USB2 devices work in either of the Pandora's ports.

Those diagnostics explain why you can't find the settings in nm - you've got a more basic USB problem. If I manage to find my own 3G dongle I'll try plugging that in and seeing what I get, but just at the moment I don't actually know where I've put it.

unable to enumerate USB device on port 2

Not good. I can't help more but saying to try google.

Also maybe boot the latest xubuntu in live-cd mode, plug the device and check the commands above.

lsusb may report the ID, which is useful, and maybe even the module name if there's one loaded.

Hey linux-swat. Cheers for helping

lsusb on my debian laptop provides

Bus 003 device 008: ID l2dl:1001 Huawei Technologies Co,. LTD. E169/E620/E800 HSDPA MODEM

The amazon page says my modem is an E1750 and says it's supported under the Pandora 3g dongle wiki http://www.pandorawiki.org/USB_compatibility_list#HSDPA_.283G.29_Modems

However the Id doesn't seem to correlate :S

Anyway I tried to follow the guide to installing the e1750 dongle provided on the wiki and located here

http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?/topic/54318-guide-mobile-broadband-usb-stick-usage/page__view__findpost__p__939350

But running command

sudo opkg install modemmanager

Tells me it's already installed so I'm guessing my dongle isn't actually the e1750...

Cheers.

Edit: It also works on my debian testing laptop FYI.

Maybe it is not triggering the detection script, yet i have never seen that with an usb device. My laptop card modem has that on all newer ubuntu versions tho.

Try

sudo modprobe option
To force load it.
