Ok so ive done shead loads of research into the gp2x, i can install emu,s and all the other newbie stuff but im buggered if i can work out why my battterie life is only 5-10min. Tried new batt, full charged batt, run dead and re charged batt but still get the same problem. All i can say is thank god i have a power adaptor, and yes i am running it at the right rates ect. All i can say is be VERY VERY cautious when buying from ebay as there are people out there set to screw you over with the broken toys. Any one has any ideas as to fixing this problem please help me.

Firstly, what kind of batteries are you using? Because standard alkalines will drain like no tommorow.

As for it being a technical fault, I honestly wouldn't know where to start. I never buy second hand systems online for this very reason. Any possibility of sending it back?

I would try checking out the battery terminals for a start, while you have the back off look for any exploded or melted or burnt chips next to the battery terminals.

It is possible the battery terminals were "cold-soldered" at the factory, meaning they have high resistance.

The guy who sold it to you on ebay should have returned it as a manufacturing defect and got a free repair/replacement.

All the shops have a warranty period I believe, and a period for returning obviously broken or mis-assembled merchandise.

it has to be your batteries...what kind are you using? I have 2050mAh Duracell 1 hour rechargable batteries I bought at WalMart for $20 for 4 of them and the charger...they last me at least 4 hours...sometimes closer to 5 or 6 hours...

The ones that came with my GP2x only lasted about 15 minutes...
I heard standard alkalines aren't much better...

I recommend buying a good set of rechargable batteries before even bothering to contact your seller.

If it ISN'T the batteries: Please ask the eBay guy if he ever used a PSU with it.
If the PSU isn't stabilized or you have a wrong polarity or wrong current, exactly that happens.
It's fixable, but not that easy to do... I repaired it a few times already.

Im using gp 2600 mAh batt and have had them running on gba overnight and they still going , yet i put them in the gp2x and it goodbye power in 3min this time. Seller has used the power supply as he sent it along with gp2x when i brought it, which is why im starting to think that its a problem with the voltage reg. Cant see any marks from anything burning or overheating, and there is no strange smell inside. I SO want to be able to take this thing out with me but ive not got a 8mile extention lead. EvilDragon, how do you make sure that it is this problem and better still how do i fix it if it is???? I have no idea about electronics and really dont fancy smoking this thing. Cheers guys & girls.
