    We've started to order things!

Well, twl6040 spec isn't as detailed but if 'capability' really means the ability to provide such power for long term usage then yes, they're somewhat close. The problem is that twl6040 was used in Galaxy Nexus and that phone didn't look like a great headphone driver. There are lots of cans...

    We've started to order things!

Of course it does, almost every other DAC does the same. It provides typical smartphone power level which is good for typical 16-20 Ohm headphones. Additional amplification is needed for higher impedance headphones and quality headphones are usually in that category.

No headphone amp then? This sucks.

    ... we're still alive!

    My current system (gentoo): du -c /usr : 21450896 total du -c /usr /bin /boot /etc /lib32 /lib64 /libx32 /sbin : 23169820 total Main offenders are compiled kernel source (6.5 GB) and portage/distfiles (package cache, 4.7 GB) so 16 GB should be enough but without kernel...

    Release Rockbox 3.13

Hello, I've made small adjustments to the pnd to run rockbox in windowed mode to allow proper multitasking and added extra button bindings (ABXY now are now 'corner buttons' for rockbox). Also I changed triggers bahaviour to support one function - center button (play/pause in 'now playing'...

    One week with the Pyra

I'm using matte screen protector for my xperia z ultra (1080p at 6.4'') and don't find such problems. There is some graininess but it's not that visible. Maybe I could make some photos later. There might be some problems with the way matte layer was made for this touchscreen or maybe touchscreen...

    One week with the Pyra

ED, when do you plan to decide on sound implementation? If I remember correctly, you or Nicolaus planned to compare sound quality of internal DAC+amp vs external DAC+amp (pandora configuration) on actual prototypes to decide which implementation to use.

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

32 bit UEFI isn't a problem for linux, it's just unsupported and require additional steps to install bootloader. The problems are in drivers as usual. While 3d should work, wi-fi,sound, touchscreen and even sd card may not depending on components GPD will use. 64 bit UEFI means windows will also...

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

Just checked my pandora and it turned out i could comfortably reach with my thumbs led area at the top and buttons between nubs. I don't think WIN is too big or uncomfortable because it's uncomfortable for ED or someone else, everybody is different.

Welcome to the new OpenPandora / Pyra / GP32X Boards!

Looks like the editor finally works in Jessie's Iceweasel. That's great!

Smach Z will pose some serious competition to the Pyra

It's binary software compiled for IA32/IA64 so you can't run it. You also can't run IA64 software on most current Atom tablets with win32 installed.  You can't run any app compiled for pandora or for example Raspberry Pi on your x86 notebook. The ability to run unmodified desktop apps...

Smach Z will pose some serious competition to the Pyra

Pandora and Pyra are designed to run unmodified desktop linux software, it's the biggest selling point for them.

Smach Z will pose some serious competition to the Pyra

Anyone noticed the thickness of that thing? It looks huge! It's going to be much harder to carry it in a pocket than a pandora. Had they used larger screen it would've make more sense. By the way 'reply' function doesn't work on current iceweasel (38.2.1) in debian stable. The editor doesn't...

No prototypes for GamesCom, but a Wifi Chip and a Pyra in the dark!

The main problem with 2.4 GHz WiFi is Bluetooth interference. If you have something that constantly sends data over Bluetooth then your 2.4 GHz WiFi could seriously degrade. For example I had some Bluetooth remote controlling software for my phone on my tablet that made 2.4 GHz WiFi almost...

Keymat Layout - the Final Poll!

The layout determines labels to be printed on keys. You can remap however you want but you wouldn't change labels.

Keymat Layout - the Final Poll!

Too much choices. Can we use this poll to narrow the list down and then have a second round? Some layouts are quite similar so there is a problem misunderstanding of poll results if for example ED have different criteria for choosing the best layout than voters.

    The 1000-traces-puzzle

Pyra tablet would be THICK. Anyone wants thick low power tablet nowadays?Pyra CPU PCB is meant to be mounted atop main board, it has two connectors on each side perpendicuar to the board plane. Had it one-sided planar connector like M.2 the tablet would be at least feasible. The difference...

    The 1000-traces-puzzle

It's not like it's 2005 nowadays and the unit can be either "on" or "off". Modern GPUs (especially mobile ones) can do very aggressive power saving while actually doing something and especiallywhen not doing anything. The main "problem" with compositing is that it's easy for a user to turn on...

    The 1000-traces-puzzle

It's simply false nowadays. Compositing is very efficient and I even turn it on by default on my laptop. It was inefficient when it all started. Android compositing doesn't kill battery, background services and virtual machine do. Sailfish uses compositing and it doesn't kill battery as fast as...

    The 1000-traces-puzzle

So... go Wayland then like any other mobile linux OS that is tied to Android GPU drivers? Eventually we'll get stable X for Wayland, most probably sooner than a stable X driver from TI.
